Get Up, Stand Up! for the king of reggae music! Bob Marley was a reggae superstar who is considered to be one of the most influential musicians of all time. Born in rural Jamaica, this musician and songwriter began his career with his band, The Wailing Wailers, in 1963. The Wailers went on to spread the gospel of reggae music around the globe. Bob's distinctive style and dedication to his Rastafari beliefs became a rallying cry for the poor and disenfranchised the world over and led to a hugely successful solo career. After his death in 1981, Bob Marley became a symbol of Jamaican culture and identity. His greatest-hits album, Legend, remains the best-selling reggae album of all time. Who Was Bob Marley? tells the story of how a man with humble roots became an international icon. This title in the New York Times best-selling series contains eighty illustrations that help bring the story to life. Review: Great book - My 12 yr old kiddo loves this book. Excellent for book reports
My son is 11 in 5th grade. He reads well but does not enjoy reading at all. He read this book cover to cover in a few hours. He needed to read a biography for his book report. He chose Bob Marley. I chose this book based on the accurate good reviews. While it's a basic bio for young readers, it does include far more detail than I personally expected from such a short book. The illustrations are outstandingly drawn. They help keep reluctant readers engaged.

I like this book
I like this book. It doesn’t sugarcoat his life.. I definitely recommend it for older students; adults should pre-read this first to be sure that some of the information is appropriate for students or children. This is a good honest simply written book. Music teachers should look at this.

Fun book for elementary kids
Fun book for my 11 year old. He did a book report on this for his 6th grade report so it had a lot of key facts; however, the reading level was low. I’d have to say would be great for kids that read around 4.0 to 4.5

Bought as a gift!
I absolutely love Bob Marley so I got this book as a gift for my niece for Christmas so her mom can start teaching her about other types and styles of music. It is a cute little book and she's in 2nd grade and able to read it on her own.

Arrived early in perfect gift giving condition
Showed up early and in perfect condition. My kids love this series. Easy reads and provides an informative and positive history of the title character. Highly recommend you get one based on your favourite historical figure and see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.

I loved the brief history of Bob Marley and think it ...
I loved the brief history of Bob Marley and think it will be a useful book to teach our little about who they are named after. It is a little "heavy" for young kids in my opinion, but the reality of poverish communities is part of life - it just means I'll expose our child to this book when I can explain and they can understand varying circumstances.
