Works for HP LaserJet 4200 and HP LaserJet 8100
Purchased these to place in a HP LaserJet 4200 and a HP LaserJet 8100. Works fine in both units (as they should, considering HP designed their JetDirect units and printers to be universal to one another). I purchased these used, so my only complaint is that they still had their original configurations loaded in them when they arrived, but it was a painless fix to get them up and running on the network. Installation was easy - just power off the printer, remove the two screws on that cover the first I/O plate on the back of the printer, remove the plate, slide this unit into the I/O slot, and hand tighten the built-in screws on the unit. Connect the Cat5 cable, power the printer back on, print your Network Configuration page, use your web browser to go to the IP address listed for the JetDirect on the configuration page, configure the unit, and you're good to go.

Worked well, but only for so long.
great that I was able to find a network card that worked with my old laser printer, but I am coming back now to write a review because it just died. Although it lasted 7 years, the printer and rest of it's components are MUCH older than that and are all going strong. Also didn't realize when I got this that I probably should have gotten the 620n originally. That's what I have now and it will hopefully last at least another 7.

Network Your Old Printer
I purchased this awhile ago and just got around to installing it a month ago. Good thing it is a HP original product, those things last forever. Plugged in the card, twist the screws, plug in the ethernet cable, turn on the printer and away you go! My HP printer Laserjet 2200d configured the card without a peep. I downloaded the latest printer software from HP's Support website, installed the software, then printed to my printer. HP has really improved the software, it found my printer and gave me the option to make it permanant. BTW, I was at a customer site last week and the HP print driver found a Samsung MFC on the network and it allowed me to connect to it and print, and... yes, I could save it as permanant. Go HP! Downside: The ethernet connector did not "click" into place. Just make sure you insert the ethernet cable squarely. The printer wire cover should keep it from moving. This is after all a inexpensive used network card (actually I think it is new). Orignally this card was $200+. (Minus 1 star for the connector.)

Worked on the first try
I ordered this card for my year 2000 vintage LaserJet 2200D. The part arrived quickly without documentation. I studied the information on the HP website but this turned out to be unnecessary. All I had to do was plug the card into the slot, attach a cable (not provided) to an empty spot on my wireless router (Linksys), reboot the router, and "install" the printer on my laptop using the Windows Vista printer icon. Vista found the printer right away and installed it with no need for me to provide drivers from a CD or the HP site or anywhere else. This is the second HP printer which is connected to the router.

works like a charm
This is the reason I love these old HP printers. parts are plug and play and easily replaceable.

New - Not necessarily so...
I had need to replace an the JetDirect card in my LaserJet Printer and found they "New" unit on Amazon. Ordering was simple and the unit arrived earlier than scheduled. Great service as always from Amazon. I put the card into my printer and followed the HP start-up instructions. Much to my surprise, this was a used unit, not new. It still had the previous customers network settings in the config. Had to perform a complete reset of the Card and Printer before I could configure my network settings. The card does work fine so far, but if something is advertised as new, I expect new. I know these are no longer manufactured and there are dozens of them out on the secondary market, but new should be new.

Nice to know these things are still available
AS we who have older HP printers connected to networks know, these print servers are squirrelly at best; and replacements often don't work. I bought two from this vendor through Amazon, and had bought another earlier. All came in electrically protected bags and all three worked when installed. This is up from my previous vendor who sent only one working in three ordered and never made replacement. Curiously, these two cards were configured differently on arrival. They presented two different configuration pages, which seemed odd. I had never seen the second one; but it's not hard to figure out if you've ever struggled through HPs convoluted logic. Delivery was prompt; I used the supersaver and continue to be very happy with Amazon fulfillment.

Did not last, defective unit
Got this from Amazon, had a hard time getting the unit to be recognized, contacted the vendor got no feedback or help. I was able to finally get it working by using some tricks to get the card configured, it worked for about a year and it quit. Since the seller would not help I was on my own. I have used HP products before and have had good success. I purchased another card from a different vendor, it worked as soon as I plugged it in, configured all settings and is running fine.
