I can't believe I haven't come across this concept before now. For me its love at first use. Its such a simple idea, but its completely changed the way I read larger books. I have a bit of a book problem on the best of days, I have a great many of them, and I struggle not to add to my collection. But when it comes to larger books, cookery, history, gardening, Woodworking, maps, encyclopaedias etc. I really can't get enough, and like nothing more than relaxing on the sofa with a cup of tea to study one of my many much loved reference books. The one problem with books of this size, is how to read them comfortably on the sofa, whilst also holding a my beverage of choice, a notepad, looking up details on my phone, or any one a dozen other tasks that require more hands than I have. But that's all in the past now, for this wonderful invention, a combination of lap tray and lectern, with build in storage... its just perfect. Big enough to hold most reference books, along with the ability to adjust the angle at which the book is held, this clever thing makes it so easy to properly study from the sofa... Need to add a post-it to highlight some wonderful detail you've just read? Well, fish around inside the box to retrieve a pen a sticky note, nothing could be easier. Fancy a slurp of coffee/tea/beer while you read? Np, slurp away while the angled reader keeps your book open at the right page, and the text easily readable, without having to try and balance the thing one handed. Fancy writing a birthday card, a journal entry, or copying a recipe from a book to take into the kitchen... Np, no need to move the table or nearby desk, you can store all you need inside the box, and then drop the angle to do your writing. Need to take a break for a sandwich, bowl of soup of glass of vino. Np, just drop the top down to its flat starting point, and you've got a comfortable lap tray all in one. Is it perfect. Well, this wonderful thing is simple, strong and well made. Its also attractive and a good size. Yes, i'd happily by a bigger version for those lovely atlas books and coffee table size treasures, but one day they'll hopefully start making one.

I wasn't sure how robust this would be, but it arrived in a strong box. Inside, the book rest was further protected with thin foam. The wooden part is MDF, so should be robust. The base is thick foam, covered in soft velvet-like material. Foam will last longer and is more stable than the beads found in laptrays and beanbags. The base also incorporates a matching carry handle. I initially had a struggle to open the book rest! Once I did, I realised why...a strong, double magnet holds the lid closed! Once I realised this, I used more "force" to easily open it the next time. The rest automatically adjusts to the nearest slot position, but further adjustment can be made one-handed. My bookmark sat nicely in the wooden inset handle above my book, by the way! The shelf is hinged, so lays flat when not in use. When pulled open, it takes a 480-page paperback novel with ease. The grips are rubber tipped. I gently flexed them over the thickness of the pages read so far and they felt fairly sturdy. I will treat them with respect though. The grips were able to hold the thick side of the book easily; the thin side needed the grips nearer towards the spine to prevent the pages slipping out of the grip. I felt this was a normal thing to expect. Once I opened the top, I removed the complimentary, matching wooden coaster from inside the well. The well was deep enough to hold my book, but I won't be keeping it in there, as I fear the book may move around and jam the rest, preventing it opening! Just me over-thinking, probably! The whole item is weighty, in a good, robust way. The seams were piped, the wood well-finished. I am so glad I risked purchasing this item. Worth every penny...so far!

I’ve never loved anything more, it’s amazing! Super sturdy, not too heavy, and the bottom is so soft and cushioned it causes no problems when on my lap! I bought this because of wrist problems that stop me from holding books open and this has been the best solve ever. the compartment inside is rlly spacious and nice, I even received a free coaster! Super easy to use, the stand for different angles functions really well , though i do wish it had one more groove to stand it upright so i can read while lying flat haha. Reading the book is super easy, the wipers hold it in place and changing the page is no problem at all, even kind of satisfying. my only issue is that one of these wipers is soooo squeaky and loud! i’m going to have to oil it or something, but this has really helped and hopefully i’ll be able to start reading again the way I did before my health declined. Does this count as an aid? yeah 1000%

OK for the price,but not ideal. It's comfortable to use (surprisingly light), decent value. A bit smelly at first (whatever the wood is, maybe whatever resins they used on the wood), but it calms down quickly enough. The page holders are not designed to last, though, just arms screwed into a tiny bit of wood, with the arms pushing sideways on the screws -- kind of an engineering nightmare in that respect. Good enough overall, just not maybe the one you should pick.

My partner got this for me for Xmas last year and out of all the gifts I got, this is by far my favourite and I use it EVERY SINGLE NIGHT when unread in bed. It has a little storage so I keep my tabs, pens and other bookish bits in there. It’s very comfy if you keep it on your lap like I do and sturdy to hold a heavy hardback! Looks and feels good. Folds away and I store in on the side on top of a chair during the day. It’s not heavy so you don’t feel the weight on your lap even with a book on as it is soft underneath. Honestly one of the best things a reader can ask for!!! It leaves my hands free and also doesn’t strain my wrists when I hold a heave hardback. Too stars for this ingenious product!!!!!

A surprisingly good product. Well designed, and well made; fits a tablet and a book. When closed , used as storage for book, cables etc . Would be even better to be able to choose from a variety of fabric colors.

A very well made product. I bought this as a gift for my husband for Eid Al-fitr. My thought was that he could read his Quran on the stand and also keep the Quran in the compartment. He was very happy with it🥰

Fijne boekensteun! Vanwege ME kan ik m'n boek niet lang zelf vasthouden, dan verzuren mijn nek, armen, polsen en handen. Dit is een perfecte oplossing. Ligt stabiel op je schoot. Handige opbergmogelijkheid voor leeslampjes en leesbril.

Es muy cómo, no es pesado, sirve tanto para libros pequeños, como medianos y grandes, lo que es de mucha utilidad. No pesa mucho, y al plegarse cabe bien en una mochila para transportarlo. Además tiene un acabado muy bonito y en la "caja" se puede guardar el propio libro que se esté transportando, lo que ahorra espacio. Y el atril es plegable y la tabla se adhiere a la caja mediante un imán, por lo que no se abre. También tiene un asa para poder llevarlo en la mano. Pero quizá LO MÁS IMPORTANTE es que los libros se sujetan muy bien gracias a las dos barras desplegables que hacen presión, como se puede ver en la foto.

This is THE best lap desk I've ever found! I've tried and returned a couple so far because they just weren't right. I'm an avid reader, so I've been looking for something like this for quite some time. It's real wood, and the quality is OUTSTANDING. I love that I can store by clip on book light in it, and the notches are secure and angle my books perfectly so I can read for hours with no issue. The page holders are well placed and firmly attached, unlike others I've tried that felt flimsy. This has everything I wanted and more! Seems silly to be so excited about something like this, but the design is so simple, and elegant, that it warranted a review. When you read as much as I do, it makes a huge difference to have a product like this. I also read rather large, sometimes hardback books, and the support where the book rests is sturdy and tall enough to hold even my largest/thickest books and cookbooks. Bonus points for it coming from a small business! I have also used this for my laptop-works just as well.
