The Digital Codes are still valid...
The Digital Codes make this set an attractive addition to your collection. The Digital Codes are still valid at the time of writing this review. The 4k and Bluray disks are in pristine condition considering a couple shook loose, but all the disks are in pristine condition and I'm getting ready to work through and watch all the disks and I'll come back and give my official review on those. I did watch all the movies digital version and a couple were in full screen instead of wide screen but that's okay for streaming, but on 4k disks I'm expecting wide screen versions so check back on that. The Resident Evil franchise is all over the place and the plots and story lines are cliche' and not true to the game, but watching Milla Jovovich pay homage to the game and other 'Matrix' like films makes the Resident Evil series an interesting series. Director James Cameron (Titanic, Avatar, Terminator 2, Aliens) admitted that the Resident Evil series is one of the guilty pleasures he has in his own collection. So if James Cameron likes it, there is obviously something to this Milla Jovovich action/horror series. As for the entire package... I recommend the basic 4k/Bluray package to the average library, the steel book is more for hard core collectors of the franchise in my opinion. Steel books (Steal Books) are fragile in the sense that they can become dented, broken or unusable and that could become an inconvenience if that happens, so I would avoid the steel book lunch box version unless you have a safe place to store it because those things are not made out of steel as the name would suggest.

all movies available. i just don’t like how they’re packaged in the case. they’re stacked upon one another. subtitles are also not available on the first three movies. i was able to turn on my smart tv’s own closed captioning so i was able to see subtitles but the movies themselves don’t offer them even though it says that it does. the first four movies are divided 2 to a disk so of course they don’t have their own menu. the last two movies are standalone disks. otherwise they all played well.

PS5 Essentials? Just Sony Essentials will do.
I just wanted to share some initial impressions on the first movie what it says about the set and opinions on ps5 as a player. Will update further as I watch other movies. Impressions on the First movie and what to expect in the set. I already had The final chapter on 4k, so I had an idea as to the quality Sony could bring and I am not disappointed. Everything is improved on for these movies Visuals/ Audio wise. I watched part of the first movie noticed there was immediate sharpness in faces, objects that are in focus, etc. There is light grain in most shots. Audio wise Atmos is very present from the scene where Alice steps out of mansion, you can hear wind and leaves blowing in overhead channels. Rear channels are engaged and used when needed. And not gonna lie, I'm kinda hyped to try out nemesis scene in Apocalypse which I already hear is demo material. Packaging consists of individual digipaks with some artwork front, back and inside. What its like on PS5 For anyone wondering how playback is on ps5, since this set is branded as PS5 "4k movie essentials". It's very similar to xbox one/ one x, this is a basic 4k player. There are no HDR enhancements, like "HDR optimizer". In fact there's not even Dolby vision support, something ill touch on later. Just know this is similar to one x with just slight yellow tint to image, not as saturated as the one x which has a green/blue hue , but some may prefer this as it adds more "realistic" colors. Atmos is hidden under Bitstream in the options menu. The resume movie feature on most players especially compared to xbox one x is excellent. So many times on my one x I would start up a movie I watched before maybe only a couple hours ago, and it wouldn't remember where I was in the movie. On the ps5 it seems as long as its in the drive(and even after popping it out) it will remember. Overall It is a very good player if you dont have one already and one I would easily recommend to anyone looking to get into 4k movies. About the lack of Dolby vision on PS5, this is something I view as a major letdown from Sony and something I wanted to expand on considering they even sell equipment, including other standalone players that support the format as well as Atmos. So I don't understand the omission here, especially as Sony is one of the leaders in 4k discs movies in the market, with most of its titles coming out as reference quality or close to it. Venom,Spiderman Homecoming, Bloodshot(which are also "movie essential" branded as well) just to name a few were praised speficially for how well Dolby Vision looked. Ironically the first DV movie put out by Sony was actually a resident evil movie, vendetta in 2017. However, just based on the fact that streaming apps like Disney + don't have 4k support, Sony's emphasis on physical disc and selling a dedicated media remote tells me there will probably be updates to come, hopefully one of those being DV. PSA: Don't bother with PS5 essentials branded movies(this set being exeption). Theres nothing extra or different about them outside of retail packaging.

"Infinite Ammo" is indeed enabled in this Complete Collection.
The Resident Evil films may not be for everyone, even fans of the games, however I enjoy them for what they are: Mindless entertainment. The first two movies are by far the best as they are the closest to the source material before they divert into their own entity with the third film. Though these movies never pretended to be anything other than mindless, and they also helped bring back the Zombie craze (for good or ill on reflection) which had been missing from movies for years before the first movie in 2002. This collection is also multi-region so it will work on your Aussie blu-ray player with no worries. And considering the first movie is hard to get on blu-ray these days, this is the best place to get all 6 if you are a fan of the series.

Fantastic set, though Apocalypse is in MPEG2 for some reason
Great set, almost all of these are amazing! I'm extremely thorough though. Of the 12 disks, 11 are awesome. For some reason the Bluray (not the UHD) for Apocalypse is in MPEG2 format instead of remastered and in H264 like all the other Blurays. This isn't awful as I personally will be watching the UHDs, but it is weird. In simple terms: The Apocalypse Bluray is nicer than DVD quality, like the first Blurays when the format was first introduced. However, it's noticeably lower quality than all the other Blurays in the collection. If you're running an Emby / Plex server, you'll probably want to convert Apocalypse, which is annoying because you don't need to convert anything else.
