Can i set the system to repeat all 5 cds so they will play all day until i turn the unit off?

Yes! I love this feature. MY only issue with this player is the complicated instructions . Otherwise it sounds great. I have 3 BOSE units which sound good, are compact, & easy to use.....but they are ALWAYS on the fritz.  This little SHARP unit is small, sounds good, and most importantly for me....it has the 5 disc capability. I've had it about 4 years now & it has never failed to operate properly. AND it's almost 3x less in price than a BOSE.... which only plays ONE disc. No brainer!

No, the above is the size of the main unit, though my measurments are slightly different. Measurement across the top of the unit with the speakers at each side of the main player: 19 inches.                             Speakers, each: 5-3/4” X 7-1/2” X 10-1/2”. Main unit: 6-3/4” X 9-1/2” X 11-1/2”

Can someone recommend better sounding speakers to replace the ones that came with this unit?

I understand your need: simplicity main unit with quality sounding speakers! 😊
But, It’s not good idea to replace speakers for such systems. Generally such budget system output power is less and provided speakers are 4-6 ohms. If you try to use high quality 8ohm speakers, sound will be not as loud as this speakers. Also low watts receiver can damage speakers. 
You can try listening  Denon 3 piece system that might have more quality of sound as it should have  better amplifier. But if you have already purchased this system, you can achieve better sound by separating speakers 8-10 feet apart or 60 degree triangle to listening position. I prefer placing them on self at top 1/3 of wall. You will here more depth and wide soundstage. If room has less sound absorbing stuff. And do not go above 80% volume. If you use bass boost then don’t go above 65%.  Hope you enjoy.
