Military Series SR-71 Reconnaissance Aircraft Jet Blackbird Air Force Building Block Set (183 Pieces) -Building and Military Toys Gifts for Kid and Adult

My 10-year-old son loved this set as it looks very realistic (more like a model than a typical Lego set). However, pieces had to be removed from plastic sheets (just like models), they were very tight fitting (more force needed than Lego), and the instructions were pretty terrible compared to real Lego. But eventually, and with my help, we got the set put together and it looks amazing. It gets a lot of compliments and playtime, and was a very reasonable price, so overall I give it two thumbs up.

My son is very enthusiastic about lego and also obsessed with the military. Lego does not make any official military vehicle sets, so we have tried a good number of third party custom sets. This is definitely one of the best builds, which is especially impressive given the price. The biggest issue with custom sets from third parties is that the build design is usually not very stable. They are ok if you want to build something for display purposes, but my son is 8 years old and he wants to play with things after he builds them. It's frustrating to have lego creations that constantly fall apart even under gentle pressure. Other issues I have encountered with custom sets are missing pieces and instructions that are nearly incomprehensible. This Blackbird set from SEKMY was a very pleasant surprise. I didn't expect much, given the low price and my previous experience. But this model holds together under normal play about as well as many official lego brand sets. The landing gear strut attachments are the weakest part (although they look cool), but pretty easy to reinforce without changing the appearance of the plane. All the necessary parts were in the box, including a lot of custom parts that I haven't seen in any other sets. The instructions, while not as easy to follow as lego, were not too hard to decipher. My son needed a little help figuring out some steps, but this is doable by a child if there is an adult willing to give some assistance. The finished product is very good. It's bigger than I expected, and my son is thrilled with it. It does not have an operable cockpit to put a minifigure inside, but they can stand on the wings.

I bought this SR-71 model for my boyfriend, and he absolutely loves it! The pieces are high quality and fit together perfectly, making the build both fun and rewarding. I’ve been in the Lego ecosystem for so long and this was my first time stepping away (other than Mattel). The build was straight forward though the instructions could have definitely been better. Also, because some pieces come off of a mold sheet, the edges have small points where the piece was twisted off. This could lead to small gaps between pieces. If you take the time to edge them off, it’s not bad. What I will say though is for the money, the final build is great. Smoother edges that really lend towards the stealthy design of the SR 71. Also, the buold was quick (all done in less than 2 hours) After this first experience, I’m definitely picking up another plane from Semky.

This is giant! (Ok not really, but the size is large it's cool) The directions were way to follow & although my son thought there was a part missing, all parts were there. The direction book was about a quarter inch thick! He wished there was an app b/c some images were slightly hard to see, but it appreciated the parts were bagged up in bags as you needed them. The stickers were great and detailed. It looks great and it's nice. I am so glad we found this!!

Easy to put together, good detail, enjoyed.

My son was super excited to open this on his birthday, however after an hour of trying to put it together, and keep it together as it kept falling apart, he became so frustrated that he was ready to throw it. I had to make him step away from it before that happened. Guess I'm going to have to purchase modeling glue. Made poorly, not like legos that lock into place, but cool idea.

Great model for those who cant handle the small parts for model building! My father cant do the tiny pieces anymore and he loved how easy this was to work with!
