This works well. We try to keep the cats off the top of our one cabinet, because they like to then jump to the refridgerator which I keep flowers on and they always knock them off the fridge!

Works well and trains our cats to stay off the mat (and anything else which looks like plastic). However, one of our cats is super smart and knows that you can move the mat out of the way by moving the control box. Also, he has figured out that the can get under the mat to get to the other side--see photo. We are using the mat to keep the cats from clawing our screen door (they are inside cats who would like to explore the outside). I hate being in a one upmanship war with my cat.

Works great, I use it to keep my dogs out of the kitchen and out from under foot.Only the smallest 9 lb yorkie-poo, is able to cross the mat without getting buzzed some of the time.
