Very good, simple to use equipment to determine electrial loads
I used this Watt Meter to determine loads for a generator, plugging it in between a generator and couple of space heaters to determine wattage and loads. There are several settings to choose and it worked perfectly. The blue-lit LCD is large and easy to read under all light conditions. It can be easily used to determine the real wattage any appliance is using. Simple, efficient, and fairly well priced.

Backlight not very effective in bright environments.
2025-07-27. Watt meter plug by HBN. Backlight. Electricity usage monitor. Electricity usage tester. 9 display modes. Voltage. Amps. Wattage. This is advertised as an electricity usage monitor, but I can't see any real practical use for that purpose. So you know how much electricity your appliances are using, and you can even calculate the costs, now what? I suppose if you're on a really tight budget, you can cut off using electricity, but rather than cutoff something we essentially need for sustenance, I'd recommend you trim the budget elsewhere, carpool and share the costs of fuel, or eat out less, but don't cut off your power. Of course this doesn't mean you should leave all your lights on all the time, save where you can. If you're not in that room, turn off the lights, set your TV on a timer in case you fall asleep, or change your bulbs to energy efficient LED ones. So why did I order this? Well, I use it to test the capability of other devices. I already own a USB A/C wall block that is supposed to be capable of delivering "Fast Charging" which is technically 18W or greater (up to 100W). Wattage is a simple formula of Volts × Amps. My charging block is capable of up to 25W and I wanted to test that it would indeed draw more than 18W. Usage is super easy, it's essentially "plug n play" meaning all you need to do is plug it in and turn it on (if applicable). This unit does have some settings, but I was interested in the wattage, so that's the one I had set it to display. After plugging the unit it, it instantly powered itself on and setting the display was as easy a push of a button. The one notable I have really is the display itself. It does have a blue backlit LED but this is both good and bad. It's good in the sense that if you're in a dark place, the illumination will make it easier to read; however, the opposite effect is also true in lit environments. I had the light turned on and at certain angles, it was not so easy to read (see pics). This could have been easily combatted by a button for the light, but the good news is that the backlit LED display will turn itself off after about 5 seconds. Again, there's a flipside to this, and that's if you want it to stay on because you didn't quite read the readout yet. There's not much else to this unit, it can display Volts, Amps, and Wattage, which is what I really wanted it for, so it's very functional for my needs. The controls are very simple and easy to use with its plug n play interface, and the unit feels solidly built.

Watt Meter works well.
Living off grid I always check how many watts an item uses as a precautionary measure. I have more than enough battery storage and panels, however during the rainy season with extended cloudy days, I like to be aware of how many watts I use daily. The watt meterhelps to ease my mind. I cannot comment on how the other functions of the watt meter work as I only use it to measure watts. The display light stays on about 15 seconds to show the watts which is long enough time for me to get an accurate reading. I was worried mostly about having to press the reset button and it failing like other watt meters I have had in the past. This meter resets itself after it is unplugged, so I need not press in the reset. I don't keep anything plugged into it for days on end, so I cannot comment on durability for that. It works for my needs and I am satisfied very much with it.

works great
This is insanely helpful. Some basic math you can do general estimates, but when it comes to devices that cycle, such as heaters. heaters heaters heaters its always the heaters, these don't just run 1500 watts constantly, they do it in cycles and this here is so helpful to learn how often they kick on, and their true cost that you don't see. I would buy this again, its been helpful. I juse wish the buttons were easier to use, I don't care for that. The UI isn't the best either but it still works fine. They should just make a dedicated button for certain tasks instead of having to long press other buttons.

Decent Power Meter
This is a decent power meter at a good price ($12). Everything was pretty accurate from my testing. Some people complain about it not being exact with another meter, but as long as it's within 1-2 volts then it is within proper specs. Don't expect to get the same results as a calibrated $400 Fluke multimeter. I bought two of them and they were within 0.6 volts of each other. Both of mine had the updated display with a blue backlight, which is easy to read from all angles. The backlight comes on anytime you press a button and stays lit for 15 seconds. I wish the backlight could stay on for at least 10 minutes or even toggle on/off permanently. All the buttons work fine. The plastic housing feels hollow and cheap and is wider than my other power meters. The plastic feels like the type of plastic that could break if you drop it on a hard floor such as tile or concrete. This is the only power meter I have that lets you set your electricity cost in fractions of a cent instead of being limited to whole cents. However, it only shows hundredths of a KWh instead of thousandths of a KWh. The watt meter doesn't recognize any device drawing less than 1 watt. My other power meters measure down to 0.3 watts. One strange behavior is the total run time timer. It works great as long as you don't lose power. A 2 second power loss will result in the total run time timer jumping back in time anywhere from a few minutes to more than an hour. So if you use this power meter on a switched outlet, your total run time timer will not be accurate and is a deal breaker for me. If you are looking for a low cost power meter that can accurately tell you how much power a device is using and calculate the electricity cost, this meter will do that for you. However, there are power meters with better features out there if you have a higher budget. I forgot to mention, there are no UL, ETL or CE certification markings on the back of the meter if that matters to you.

Great quality device, very useful
It is really easy to use with well thought dedicated buttons. Just plug any device in it. There are dedicated buttons to give you access to various consumption data in Watts, Amps, etc. Once you specify your KWh local cost by pressing the « Set » button, you can then monitor the cumulative cost of your device. You can easily reset it when needed. Simple instructions are provided. This device is top quality. The white acrylic finish proves strength and durability. Very useful, and much recommended device.

Great Device
I bought this to check the cost of operating one of my window AC units (11 Amp initial start up draw, with a 5 Amp operating rate) and it works great. Once you set the COST $$ of your kilowatt hour in the device it calculates the total Wattage, Amperage, Voltage, Hertz/Frequency and Cost of your electricity usage. It has a 15 Amp rating so you can use it on devices that draw 15 Amps or less. I have a Prius PlugIn and have used it to calculate the cost of charging my battery and it worked wonderfully. The Prius plugs into a regular 110/120 Volt receptacle and only has a 12 Amp draw during charging so this device handled it with ease.

Mala Calidad
