Awesome remote! I was a little skeptical at first since there weren’t any instructions in the packaging, but it couldn’t have been easier to use. Just pop in the batteries, hit the power button, and it works right away—no codes, no setup. Feels like it came with the TV.

Update review started falling apart then stopped working They are right worked right away! My dog ate my original remote I got a GE universal remote it worked pretty good but then it fell off the nightstand and broke so I had to get another one so this time I want it a remote that actually went with the TV. Very surprised at the price a lot lower than I thought but programming. A remote is a pain. So when I read this one work after you put batteries in thought I’ll give it a shot. Priced a little compared to all others ... but hey, worked perfect with no programming. Once gets what one pays for ... and this is the best. Inflation has hit the remotes.

Pros: It’s lightweight, inexpensive, looks better than the original remote and makes typing easier. There is no setup, as it worked straight out of the box for my 70 inch Vizio V series. It shipped quickly and was delivered the following day ( purchased January 31, delivered February 1). Cons: I would have given 5 stars, but some of the buttons have no use (eg the yellow, blue, red and green in the middle) and some of the QWERTY keyboard buttons don’t work properly. Pressing the space button types the letter t, and the DEL (backspace button) types the letter b. I wouldn’t be surprised if the print on the buttons faded quickly, since a couple were already slightly faded upon arrival. EDIT: 12 weeks later… The remote hardly ever works properly. I have to press buttons multiple times for any response. If I press another button, it responds as if I pressed the previous button.

But as with any great team, there’s always that one glaring weakness, and for the Vizio remote, it’s the keyboard buttons. Imagine expecting to see a Maddux shutout, only for the bullpen to give up a late-inning lead. That’s the disappointment I feel every time I press a keyboard button, only to have it register the wrong letter or symbol. It's like calling up a relief pitcher only to have them blow the save—everything falls apart. This remote had all the potential to be an all-star in every way, but the keyboard button issue is its Achilles’ heel. If Vizio could fix this, we’d be looking at a remote worthy of the World Series title. Until then, it remains a brilliant piece of equipment with a heartbreaking flaw—like those Braves teams that just couldn’t seal the deal until '95.
