Solid quality microphone for a great price
I've bought two of these to use in my recording array. They're well built and sound decent, but the biggest feature is the price tag. They sound comparable to a microphone that costs twice as much. The bundled accessories are a mixed bag. The shock mount is plasticity but gets the job done (extra rubber bands were appreciated), the dead cat is a pain to get on, the XLR cable is pretty basic. The case is a little flimsy, but will serve the purpose of protecting what's inside it. It just won't survive a couple of drops without some damage.Overall, very impressed with the compete package. If you need a starter shotgun mic, I highly recommend this one.

LOVE THIS KIT!
I just bought a Canon Rebel T6i and needed an external mic to go with it. This kit was exactly what I needed and affordable. The other thing I love about it is that it all fits in a portable case so it's not big and bulky to carry around. I just put it in my backpack and I'm good to go. I would definitely recommend this is you're just starting out and need a minimal amount of equipment to work with. The sound quality isn't bad either which is great for an audio major.

Works great for filming
For 90 dollars, this is as good as it gets for the kit, mic, and the price. I use this mic for filming and so far it has great quality. After recording you might have to do some noise reduction depending on location and what setting your mic is on. Audacity works great for that. The shock mount works great and has standard threads for boom pole. It comes with a male to male bolt thing, a male to camera mount pice, and a normal boom pole mount. The xlr cables aren't so good. There a little flimsy and you should be able to get better quality if you spend a couple extra bucks for a better one. It comes with a male to female xlr cable and a male to 3.5mm jack cable. There is also a 3.5mm to 6.3mm jack. The wind muffs work great and everything else was awesome. Overall, this kit was pretty good and the mic worked great for filming and any other use. It is way cheaper to buy the the kit with the mic then buy the accessories separately.

(for a lot higher cost) this is a good buy for the money as the user gets an ...
The product came as promised with all the stated items. I have tried out the mic' with my Canon Rebel T6i and found it is a decent directional mic. Though there are others that will pick up the sound signal more clearly, (for a lot higher cost) this is a good buy for the money as the user gets an idea of the basics needed for clear sound, on video. Also there is enough cord (25ft) to actually put the mic on a boom or set it up remotely. The two separate covers ("foam spit-cover" and "dead cat") are handy and give the new videographer a sense of the importance of reduction of sound from the wind. The basic configuration of placing the mic above the camera by use of a shoe for the flash port allows the mic to be used out of the box. The additional purchase of a 1/4 x 24 threaded shank of two inches plus a tensioner-nut (or wing nut) to be screwed into the handle at the end opposite of the mic will allow the mic to be implemented below the camera out of the field of view.

Great Mic for me
Iโm a photographer first and I also shoot a like of music videos. I just started getting into short films, and I need a shotgun mic for recording vocals. And my Rode Go video mic didnโt give me the best quality. I received my product right on time and I was very pleased about that. After just testing this mic out for about an hour I could tell the difference quality and I was shocked. Because how inexpensive this mic was. It sounds even better if you hook it up to and external recoding device like a Zoom h4n and not your dalr mic input.. All in all I might buy another one, I recommend this purchase.

Works ok, but has some minor issues.
Mic works well. It will get the job done. The recorded sound is good, for dialogue if properly use by your boomed during the shoot, but I wouldn't recommend using the mic for recording any audio more robust than dialogue. The way all of the contents are initially packed into the small carrying case is a problem. The windscreens were jammed into mine and are permanently deformed now, but they still fit the mic. However, I recently used them on a shot outside on a windy morning and they did not cut out that much of the wind overall. Also, the shotgun handle that is pictured here with the grip ribbing is not the one that was provided in the package. Instead, it is a simple foam handle with no grip. XLR cables are not a heavy guage, so I use different cables than the ones included.

This is really a wonderful product. Lot's of plastic pieces though
This is really a wonderful product. Lot's of plastic pieces though, which one should expect at this price point. The business parts though, the microphone, cables and adapters are top notch. There seems to be like a million feet of cable which is more than enough and the ability to use 1/8" or XLR is great. My son does video for school projects and had been using the built in mic. on my Canon 70D, which was adequate for most things, but lost a bit when he worked outside. Performance is night and day with this equipment, even when mounted on the camera. If I had a criticism, it would be that the carrying case could be a little larger. Getting everything back into it is a challenge.

really surprised
So far it is a huge bang for the buck especially if you a looking for an entry kit into location sound from the ground up. If you are a first-time buyer this would be a great kit since all you would need is a field recorder to get decent sound. I bought this as a backup kit and it saved my bacon twice on shoots and it produces some decent audio. still working on a few things to get better results but it is a worker right out of the box.Update: I found that you have to really bring up your gain or input level (depending on your recorder) in order to get the best from this mic. It seems to really work the best when soaking up the phantom power but can really give a good level signal when tuned right. It will take some fidgeting before your shoot to get things dialed but it comes out clean and clear. The dead cat needs to be combed when first using as it is packed so tight in the case it is all laid down and will pick up wind if you don't fluff it.

Decent set but certain issues bother me...
I'm glad I waited awhile to review this mic set. Overall it has features that I like. The extended cord works great, I use it to run to a boom stand a lot. The sound quality is fairly good I've found. The one thing that takes my rating down to a 3 is that the on switch on the mic does not stay firmly in the on position, it seems loose or something. I have to switch it to the on position and then use electrical tape to keep it in the on position. That's just bothersome.
User
case was the issue for only 4 stars
excellent product.the reason for the four stars is the case was broken when it arrived at my place.the latch used to close the box is broken.should make a stronger box to hold all the material cause everything is really tight inside.
User
Seems good so far
Lots of peripherals. Good first shotgun mic.
