Good tool if properly used
The reviews for the WORX JawSaw Cordless Electric Chainsaw are wildly different. Some people have a good experience and some not. Issues? The most frequent complaint in the negative reviews seems to be the saw chain coming off. You should know that not everyone has that problem. I live in a forest. Clearing trees and branches is a regular part of our lives. My JawSaw has performed well for three months with about 2-4 hours of use per week. We have made hundreds of cuts and the chain has not come off when I was using it. Then I let a friend (who has no experience with chainsaws) try it. I noticed he changed the angle of the saw while making his cut and positioned the saw so the wood closed on the bar. The saw chain came off. Looked like a safety feature to me. If you have experience using a chainsaw, you know it is best not to change the angle of the saw while making your cut and to avoid letting the wood close on the bar. If you don't have experience using a chainsaw you, might consider getting someone to help you before using a chainsaw or a JawSaw (or writing a review). After a brief lesson, my friend made another 30 cuts and never made the chain come off again. That is the only time the chain ever came off our saw and it took less than two minutes to put it back on. Will it cut? The JawSaw chain rotates slower than a gas chain saw so it cuts slower. That said, it also cuts any kind of wood we throw at it. We have mostly hardwoods: oak, cherry, maple, hickory, Ironwood and Osage orange (Hedge Apple). The JawSaw cuts them all. It also stays sharp much longer than a typical chainsaw because the housing keeps the cutting edge out of the dirt and because it cuts slower. Batteries I have several different kinds of power tools and the different batteries do vary in important ways. The WORX batteries are good. Compared to other brands, they deliver good power for a better than average duration. Charger The tiny little charger that comes with the WORX tool sets is a good candidate for the trash. If you are comfortable waiting for 12-18 hours for a single charge you may like it. I used that twinkie charger once and immediately ordered WORX WA3835 25-min Quick Charger. I have two small (2 Amp/hr) WORX batteries. I find that each battery lasts about as long as it takes to charge the other one so with two batteries and that fast charger I can work continuously. Warranty/Customer Service My original JawSaw worked fine for three months, then it simply stopped. I phoned WORX customer service and they immediately shipped me a new one. They required me to pay $14 shipping but they paid shipping on the return. They reminded me that their warranty lasts three years (if you register the product). I found WORX warranty team to be polite and helpful. Ease of use/safety My wife and son, who are not even slightly comfortable with a chain saw, can work safely with the JawSaw without difficulty. Does it do everything? No. But, used as intended. it does a good job of what it was designed to do: cut limbs and small trees under 4 inches in diameter, slowly and safely. Summary: I would buy this product again. I would recommend it to a friend.

Good trimmer saw
I was looking for a saw I could use to trim some annoying brush and scrub trees on our property. Notably one that was growing up near a deck and had become a nuisance - that one had REALLY hard wood near the base. I've been reluctant to get a full-size chain saw just for this, and was looking for a smaller/lighter one. This one filled the bill perfectly - it's battery-driven, light, and I like that it has the protective 'sleeve arms' that the blade withdraws into when not in use. It was easy to get going (using the oil and oil can supplied with it), once the battery was fully charged. Within minutes, I had cut away one of the scrub bushes near our shed, with almost no problems. Next session, I'll tackle the one by the deck! Pros: - Light, easy to maneuver - Battery charges relatively quickly (using the standard WORX charger) - Easy to fill/refill with the blade oil, and the 'window' lets you see easily when it needs it - SHARP! (The manual warns you not to touch the blade with bare hands, even with the saw turned off and the battery removed, and they aren't kidding! The edges are like razors....) - The retracting blade feature for safety; and generally the guards around the blade when in use - Reasonable price - Shipped expeditiously Cons: - The guards can get in the way when sawing, depending on what you're sawing - in my case, scrub bushes' smaller branches can get snagged on the guards when trying to get at the main branch. But a bit of careful maneuvering gets around this. - The little gizmo that has to be pushed into a slot in the handle before the motor will turn on is a great safety concept. But [1] it takes a bit of doing to push the handle slide in so the two bits of slot line up and the thing can be pushed in. And [2] it's pretty loose in the slot and can be jostled out occasionally (in which case the chain instantly stops, so not a safety issue, just a nuisance). All in all, it's a fine tool for what I got it for. I doubt it's robust enough to handle cutting logs of any size - but I don't need that, and anticipate it will continue to meet my needs quite nicely. The "cons" I noted are (for me) minor, and the "pros" easily win out.

Good product is used right and expectations
It doesn't take long to need to add more oil and the chain falls off a lot if you're not cutting perfectly straight. But very good for small jobs. If you're cutting high branches and stuff it's "very" important to get the extender pole.

We like WORX because they work
I got this for the wife so she could us it on limbs that have fallen or those I have cut down. The important thing for her was the weight [she's 5'2"]. She does almost all the feeding of our critters--equines, sheep, goats, & chickens, and the maintence of our 11 acres, so handling a battery powered, lightweight unit to cut thicker branches than a manual lopper does, makes it easier for her with the maintenance of animal pens, or encroaching tree limbs growing toward the garden, much easier now that she 'doesn't need me' to do those things so I could be indolent now that I'm retired. The fact that it is battery powered makes it easy to continue working continuously [when she takes along 2 or 3 batteries] and easier for me when I use it. I used to have the Worx unit that had a cord, which made it more difficult to haul around since I would have to use a 100 foot extension cord to do the same kind of work--so I'm grateful Worx was able to develop a good battery system for all their tools [we have 18 batteries & 7 chargers] so we can do multiple things for 3-4 hours at a time before we have to stop to recharge all of them [we don't need to because we rotate used batteries to any unsed batteries every day we are going to do some work] I/We would order it again, and that's the best thing, besides what the stars indicate].

Made short work of low-hanging limbs!
I've had several low-hanging tree limbs that for years have made mowing grass increasingly difficult. After shopping several brands and models of tree saws I decided to give the Worx AW320.9 JawSaw a try. It arrived quickly and after reading the instructions I put it to work. It made very quick work of those tree limbs and I now have kindling size pieces for fires next fall. It's great that pieces can be cut right on the ground and smaller limbs can be stacked and cut into manageable lengths in bulk. My chain just came off for the first time but it took less than 3 minutes to put it back on with the handy tool included. I suspect those having difficulty getting the saw to work aren't pushing the handle assembly "in" (toward the limb they are cutting). This inward push of the handle activates the cutting chain bar and moves it through its cutting path within the enclosed jaw. Great safety feature to prevent accidents with an exposed saw chain. The JawSaw seems very well built. A note that Worx tools are made in China but seem to be very durable and well thought out. It is a little top heavy when working overhead but I found the trick is to rest and wrap the head around the limb to be cut before activating the switch and pushing on the handle slowly to complete the cut. Just be aware that the limbs can be heavy and stay out from underneath them when cutting. Battery life is actually pretty decent as I finished my cutting and used the same battery to power my Work leaf blower on a single charge with power to spare on the battery pack. I just ordered the extension handle AG0169 made to go with it for cuts up to 12' overhead. I give the saw an overall 4.5 star rating and recommend it.

I love this chainsaw!
Iโm a 53 yo female in good shape. Meaning I could saw limbs off a tree if I โhad toโ. But I don't have to anymore. This saves soooo much time. When I bought this, I was new to chainsaws (translate to afraid of) but I was needing to do a lot of work in the yard. This is still my go to โchopperโ even though I own a chainsaw now. Itโs fast, safe, you can cut things that are dangerous to use a chain saw for (branches or piles on the ground or near other stuff), chop up branches to fit in the bin.... I routinely help my 78 yo neighbor with her yard. Last week we took off a couple huge branches from her cedar trees that she was going to pay someone $800 to do for her. I have so much fun using it, she said I should contact Worx and be a spokesperson! Oh - and something happened to the first one I had and they quickly sent out a replacement. We've purchased a couple more Worx products since (pole chainsaw and regular chainsaw). Very happy with this little "chopper".

Best tool I own
I am a 56 year old women who owns 13 acres of woods this is the best item to break down the larger limbs and or trees. It is not very heavy, using over head is more of a challenge due to my lack of strength, but I can do it a few times, My mom is 76 and the stuff on the ground she can take care of super easy, it is very powerful and the battery last most of the day and it is running most of the day. If the chain gets caught up and comes off it is super easy to re-attach. It is so much fun when you have a lot of debris to clear after having property logged. I actually own two so more then one person can be working at the same time and everyone wants to help out with this item. My Dad also had to get one for him self. Love all the worx products and I have several

Absolutely wonderful pruning product!
This is an amazing chain saw!! It is the perfect choice for someone learning how to saw for the first time. The safety features are incredible, and the directions for its use and how to tighten the chain are very simple. It is light enough that this makes a wonderful pruning tool for women, elderly people, or younger people. It works extremely well and enables a person to prune her own trees and bushes because it can cut up to 4 inches. It is not designed for chopping down trees - unless they are 4inches or less, but it is a fabulous pruning tool! Perhaps itโs best feature is that it does all this while remaining a very light tool.

The jury is still out.
For occasional/light duty this item is quite suitable and easy to use. It will use any of the 20 volt batteries by Worx. Make sure you "pump" the handle to generate oil on the bar and chain. Recommended.

Heavy, hard to use, chain falls off all the time. Okay to cut low to ground.
