Regarding blue stains in bowl, the instructions require flushing the bowl after cleaning. Did you flush immediately after cleaning?

I have not had any issues with blue stains. There is a blue color to the cleanser and the water which washes away when you flush after using the cleaner.

Is this product really as good as advertised?

I like them a lot. Easy to use and throw away. Brush is good for stains.

How long can this product be used?

You can use this Scotch Brite product as long as you need. It is a single use disposable cleaner for toilet bowl rim.
