Mastering Magick: A Course in Spellcasting for the Psychic Witch (Mat Auryn's Psychic Witch, 2) Review: A Masterclass in Practical and Psychic Spellcraft - Mat Auryn’s Mastering Magick: A Course in Spellcasting for the Psychic Witch stands among the most comprehensive and illuminating guides to modern witchcraft available today. It expands beautifully upon his earlier work Psychic Witch, guiding readers from inner energy work into the creation of powerful, spirit-filled spells. Inside, you’ll find over sixty spells that blend psychic development, classical correspondences, and practical craft. The book features contributions from respected witches including Christopher Penczak, Judika Illes, Storm Faerywolf, Juliet Diaz, Laura Tempest Zakroff, and Madame Pamita, enriching the material with diverse wisdom. You’ll discover not only some of the most insightful teachings on spellcasting found in any book, but also rare instruction seldom addressed elsewhere, such as when and why to cast a triangle, a square, or summon the crossroads instead of a circle. Auryn explains the reasoning behind these choices, helping the practitioner understand how form and geometry shape magical current. He also explores why the elemental directions may shift their placements depending on the level of reality or type of work being performed, offering a deeper grasp of cosmology in practice. There is also fascinating material on the relationship between astrology, the tides of the moon, and the turning of the seasons, showing how these cycles affect not only the potency of one’s magic but the movement of one’s psychic sensitivity as well. Each chapter ties practical methods with spiritual understanding, helping the reader align magic with the living rhythms of nature and the inner self. Chapters cover topics such as embracing the witch’s power, spellcasting theory, cleansing and protection, spatial and energetic shaping, inner and outer tools, synchronizing with the moon and seasons, and working with planetary energies. Mat includes personal narrative, sharing elements of his past, trauma, and how his magical path developed. That vulnerability gives this work emotional resonance alongside technical instruction. He also includes tips and alternative exercises for neurodivergent folks, including those with ADHD and aphantasia, that address challenges some readers experienced in Psychic Witch when working through its meditations and visualizations. Review: A book for EVERY Witch... - Mat has done it again. You know how they say some folks just have "it"? Well, Mat has got it and then some. His first book, Psychic Witch, was so popular because of Mat's incredible ability to make the reader feel seen and validated in their own experiences. He covers all the bases, and holds open & accepting space to include everyone. He doesn't write for specific types of Witches or Magickal Traditions: he writes for every Witch of every skill set. THAT is a rare talent and rarer still to find in any Modern Occult book(s). Much like in Psychic Witch the reader is given real life tools to create Magick and attain Mastery of said Magick and most importantly of Self. This is a book every Witch, Mystic, Sorcerer and Magician should have on their shelves. I would suggest, personally, using the two books together (first as a primer) to get the most out of the Work. Highly recommend. Sidenote: Mat is not just super talented he is one of the kindest, most genuine Souls I have had the pleasure of coming across. He gives back to this community in ways that will reverberate throughout history. Mat will go down in history and become a name we all know. Yes. I mean that with my whole heart. What a privilege to bear witness.

Another Fantastic Book and Tool!
Another Fantastic book by Mat. A perfect compliment to PsychicWitch. Both are treasured tools of my Practice. The spellwork and guidance given in the book has boosted the success of my spells and has given me insight to making my Practice a success. I recommend both books to my clients constantly. My go-to guides for my Practice. Thank You Mat!!

I like it
I got both of Mat's books, but I started with this one because I know the first one is a lot of what I've been doing for the past 30 years after not practicing the craft using any tools/herbs etc. I've been working with intuition and energy, and it's been a minute since I've done a spell, as I just said. Well, now I'm ready to do some spell crafting and so I started with his second book because he has spells that aren't about fixin' and gettin', you know what I mean? This book is a continuation of the last one from what I can see. Once you have honed your intuitive skills (a.k.a. trusting your own power), then graduating to a point where you can start doing spell work begins. It's about using spells to enhance and help, rather than making it do the heavy lifting FOR you. It makes sense, because it's not the spell 'that gets you what you want', it's the intention, it's the quality of your relationship with your guides. If we could all just do a spell to 'get stuff', we would live in a different world. Anyway, this book is really great. I appreciate that the spells are about continued self-empowerment rather than trying to drive a skank away from the man you want! lol.

Easy read, amazing author, a must have
Love this book! It is just as good if not better than psychic witch. I greatly appreciate this author taking into consideration us neurodivergent learners. This is a much have in your book collection. It covers many things and multiple ways so if one way doesn't work for you another might.

Beautifully written but plain spoken
Something deep to swim through for a while not a quick read and be done with it. This book and his other require you to sit with it for a while.

Best foundational books for magick, psychic, and energy work!
These two books, psychic witch and mastering magick, are a must for any beginner occultist! Sets a good foundation for establishing a daily practice as well training yourself to work with energy and different levels of consciousness. A lot of foundational exercises that are a must and not in most books or are overlooked when training initiates

I didn’t think it was possible to bottle magic within the pages of a book, but thankfully I was mistaken. Mastering Magic was an amazing read from start to finish. I’ve been a Pagan for over twenty years of my life and I learned more about magic and myself reading this book than I have after twenty something years of delving into spell books, writing spells and lighting candles. Auryn talks about magic so organically and so openly that I couldn’t help but be pulled right in. I finished this book in three days and then went back for a second read and then the third time around, I started marking the book up and making notes on my favourite spells and practices. Even more amazing, Auryn has spells written by a variety of other magick makers and spell casters so that I felt like I was being taught by a whole community of Witches. His first book Psychic Witch was so good and I expected more of the same int his book; what I got was so much more. I learned about myself and how to form my own magic, weave my own spells, that magic feels like home to me now when it felt like I was merely dabbling before. This book helped me to find my own magical voice and I’m so grateful for Mastering Magick and for Mat Auryn.

This book is not a novel and not really meant to be read from cover to cover (well, the author might disagree;). I pick chapters that interest me. Not discounting the early chapters on understanding spellcasting, approaching the Mysteries (really good chapter), cleansing and protection, etc. While I am fairly experienced but qualify to learn more, I jumped forward to the chapters that dealt with planetary influences since I am a qualified astrologer. Well, I wasn't disappointed. The author goes through lunar phases and their particular powers, seasonal applications and timing. There's a separate chapter on planetary energies, including planetary days and hours. Love the diagrams. The Energy Wheel is fabulous, combining astrology, elements, modalities, planetary signs and rulerships (traditional). Interspersed in the chapters are exercises in developing different qualities, such as creating a talisman for second sight, seal of the nine heavens during a waning moon. It's not common to find a book on magical practise that includes astrology. I will certainly go back and read the earlier chapters because not only are they well written, researched and readabie there is information in there that I look forward to incorporating into my own magical practise. Thoroughly recommend this book as it's packed with relevant and innovative ideas to improve your practise.
