Buy Sibley Backyard Birding Flashcards: 100 Common Birds of Eastern and Western North America (Sibley Birds) on desertcart.com ✓ FREE SHIPPING on qualified orders Review: Great for both Experienced and Inexperienced Birders - This is a great set of cards. It comes in a really nice, attractive box. When I ordered this product, I didn't realize that the box it came in was also going to house the cards permanently and safely... a nice touch! You pull the little ribbon tag to reveal two decks of cards, separated by a built in divider. One deck is comprised of 1/2 common Eastern birds, 1/2 common Western birds. The other deck is comprised of birds found commonly across the continent. The illustrations can't be beat! They're beautiful. The front of the cards feature the wonderful artwork, while the backs of the cards identify the name of the bird, where they can be found, a brief description, and some other very basic information. It's just the right amount of information-not too much that it's overwhelming, but just enough to learn what you need to know. This is ideal for beginners who are still learning, and experienced birders who wish to test their knowledge. Because the birds are identified by name on the back, as opposed to right nearby the illustration (as in a book), learning by site is much easier--as you learn to identify without relying on the name written right by. These will be used in a State Park as an educational tool primarily, but they're very fun to quiz yourself with, too! Review: Time with my girls is always priceless. - I was really impressed with these cards and they are exactly what I wanted. The first thing I did was to pull out the cards of birds from where I live. I made a recognition game of sorts with them. My granddaughters ages 8 and 12 enjoy playing with me. There is no winner. We keep track of how many we have correctly identified. We keep the games short to maintain interest. They have pulled out a card and told me that had seen that bird in their yard. Time with my girls is always priceless. The pictures of the birds are accurate and show both male and female. It also tells their differences. The flip side of the card gives basic information about each bird including habitat, range, description, size and voice. I have no problem reading the print but then I do wear “cheaters”. They are easily stored in the box and looks nice on the bookshelf.

Very informative and accurate
My dad recently purchased a ton of bird feeders as he noticed the many different types of birds in his backyard and was curious to see what it would bring. Well, it brought a lot and we didn't know what half of them were and wanted to buy the right kind of food for them. These flashcards certainly helped and had every kind of bird we've seen so far and with accurate information too. We kind of made a game out of it. Every time we see a new bird, we search really fast for the flashcard that matches it. lol! My niece has enjoyed them as well and she's really learning things at a young age. So, everything is easy to comprehend too. We're certainly getting use out of them, to say the least.

Beautiful quality cards for study and for fun!
We purchased this set of flashcards for our nature-loving girl's ninth birthday. There are two decks of standard-sized cards. She is charmed by the illustrations, the cute little box the cards come in, and has quickly learned more facts about birds (she was already a blossoming birder!) since reviewing these cards. She keeps them in a safe place in her bunk bed and often likes to go out with her cards by herself and identify birds/calls and explore. We like that they keep her engaged, learning, and she is teaching herself!

Great little bird identification set!
Just received this product and already I love it! The pictures of the birds are beautiful. I like how the name of the bird is on the other side of the card so you can test yourself on your naming skills. The box that it comes in is very nice. The reason I gave the product a four instead of a five is because I'm a newbie at bird identification and while I love the map on the back of the card that I know is supposed to mark where the birds are mainly found there is no key to the color coding of the maps. It would be great if there was one more card that was a how to use this set card that would explain details like that. Also, I saw a reviewer complain that the cards didn't show male and female birds, they only showed the males in different seasons. That is not entirely true. Some cards show just male birds in different seasons, some cards show male juvenile and adult, while some cards show male and female birds. I know you can't for all information about a bird on something the size of a playing card but I do wish the was a little more unity in what the pictures showed. Also know that the sturdiness of the cards is about the same as a deck of playing cards. Despite those details I still love the set and know I will enjoy using it for a long time to come.

A very well thought product
We recently moved to a new place and have a backyard where a lot of different birds are available. So we decided to get something handy to check who our visitors are. The cards are in the size of regular play cards and they are very well made. They include a set of East, west and a set of common birds across the country. If the Male and female have a different phenotype they are given with details. If the adults do not have dramatic difference they show the adults compared with the juvenile. Also includes information regarding their food consumption etc. it also comes in a very nice card box. Very satisfied.

Beautiful set - great learning tool
This is a really beautiful, well designed set of flashcards. They come in a very sturdy box divided into two sections - one side has 50 cards common across all of North America and the other side has 50 cards split evenly between birds common to Eastern North America and birds common to Western North America. Illustrations on the front and common name and Latin name on the back along with specs, range and a brief description of the bird and write up on habitat. My daughter & I really enjoy flipping through these - wish there were similar sets covering other topics - animals and insects of North America for example.

These cards are amazing! beautiful illustrations, a lot of information on the back of each card without being too too much, and they're great for adults and children! A lot of fun to quiz each other and learn new birds in the process

Such a lovely deck of info cards. The information is great for kids and adults alike and the images are beautiful. I wish they made these cards bigger (they are just so lovely). It is true what the one reviewer said - the images are quite small. This will be a great addition to our "Spring" collection.

My young grandson loves birds and has learned the names a quite a few different species. These little cards are helping reinforce what he’s learned so far and helping all of us learn a few new ones too!

This is a nice little deck, but not professional looking. The colours are not crisp, giving a smudged appearance. The bird images are smallest then I expected. I would have preferred one bird per card.
