180gm vinyl LP pressing. Rightly recognized as one of the most important and influential British groups of all time, the Kinks were never better than on their earliest albums, all of which are chronicled in astounding mono on The Mono Collection. Mastered from the original UK Pye NPL analog master tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio, this deluxe 180g 10LP vinyl box set presents the Kinks' initial seven studio albums, Live at Kelvin Hall, and double-LP compilation The Kinks (aka The Black Album) in unsurpassed mono. The Mono Collection also comes complete with a lavish hardcover 48-page book comprised of never-before-seen photos and new interviews with Ray Davies, Dave Davies, and Mick Avory. The Mono Collection includes: Kinks (1964), Kinda Kinks (1965), The Kink Kontroversy (1965), Face To Face (1966), Something Else By The Kinks (1967), The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society (1968) and Arthur (or The Decline and Fall of The British Empire) (1969), plus Live at Kelvin Hall (1967) and the bonus double LP compilation, The Kinks (aka The Black Album) (1970). Review: Perfect - You know the music... and here it is with beautiful pressings and sound quality to match. Too many modern reissues aren't a patch on the originald that they claim to duplicate. This one returned to the original analogue tapes and went from there - with exquisite results. (Except on the Kinks of London double comp, which did use a digital source - and you really notice it after sitting through the rest of the box) Looking for the UK originals of these has always been an expensive proposition, especially when you get to Village Green and Arthur. Now you no longer need to Review: Wonderful music, great sound, and historic recordings. - If you're a Kinks fan, then you already know you have to own this. If not, I'm betting you will be a fan after you hear this set. The set is very comprehensive, taking the listener from the early (lighter pop) years to the far more introspective later days. The sound is fantastic. I have listened to the set on JBL studio monitors and I don't think recordings from this era could sound much better. The glorious mono sound can't be beat. The Kinks are one of the most important bands to arise from Britain and there is no better way to enjoy them than this set!

... of records with all of the LP jackets in perfect condition. The records themselves are sturdy and clean ...
I guess I'm one of the folks that received this box set of records with all of the LP jackets in perfect condition. The records themselves are sturdy and clean of any scratches - the sound quality is also very, very good. If you are a Kinks fan, this is a fantastic collection to own. Turn it up!!

Great reissues!
Excellent box! Collects the golden era of The Kinks in their original mixes and (I believe) from the best analogue tapes. Though not ABSOLUTELY complete (some ep songs and non-co currently released), this reissue of the albums is very well done. The vinyl sounds great and the book included has lots of pictures. Want fresh copies of these essential lps? Buy this!

the individual album covers/packaging are/is pretty shoddy (outer box was fine)
As others have noted, the individual album covers/packaging are/is pretty shoddy (outer box was fine); have of the 10 LPs covers in mine were chewed up at the top. But also as others have noted, the LPs themselves (the vinyl, the recorded sound quality) are quite nice. As I bought the collection for the music and not as a collector or display item, I'm satisfied.

Kinks Mono Box Set is Outrageously Good
I received my Kinks Mono box set today, and am just blown away by both the packaging (my copy did not have the degraded album cover issues that were reported by others) and the quality of the mono. There is only one clunker of an album in the set (Live at Kelvin Hall), but even that is interesting, if not particularly great listening. The Ray Davies curated Black Album is the jewel in the box. I recommend this highly to both Kinks aficionados, and new listeners. This is a very strong set of music, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

this Kinks box is like a dream come true
Gotta say, this Kinks box is like a dream come true. No frills, all analog mastered by Kevin Gray, made by people who really care - all at a very affordable price point. Yeah, so what if the packaging is a little low budget compared to the Beatles set... I'd much rather have it be at this price point, and the money going into what counts the most - the sound. It's a shame that this template isn't followed by everyone else: Monkees, Stones, Who, Beach Boys, Bowie, etc - I'd buy em all. Grossly overpriced, bells & whistle packages lazily cut from digital files - not so much.

Five Stars
The sound is great, the hardcover book is a nice touch, and Arthur includes the inserts. Lovely

This collection is well packaged well worth the selling price as for the pressings they are dead quiet no surface noise much like the Beatles mono box set. How do they sound? well my 1st impression is killer very impressive open sound stage. Grab this set you wont be disappointed. Living The Dream
