Will a 20mm ball fit in this adapter?

The 22mm Quad Lock socket won't tighten on a 20mm ball. Tried, failed. But, the 22mm Quad Lock ball will tighten in a 20mm socket system. That's what I run. The ball from one end tightened in my 20mm ball and socket system. The Quad Lock balls are simple to remove. Untighten the screw, remove the ball. Another option is a 20mm-to-22mm "barbell" adapter from Bulletpoint Solutions.

is this a 1 inch ball?

I don’t have that unit but yes it has a 1 inch ball at each end.
