Can it be washed in the washing machine or does that ruin it ?

I haven't washed it because it already is falling apart on the inside. Very afraid it won't make it though a delicate wash.

In person will this jacket appear bright white as it does in the images above if i take a photo will the preflash black out the picture

If your camera has a flash, it will reflect the light and you will see it in the photo very bright

Is it possible to DIY my own pockets?

I’m not sure what you mean.... there are 2 pockets that you can see the model has their hands in. The one pocket up by the chest is non functioning and I don’t have the jacket with me at moment so not sure if you could make that work or not. Remember to buy bigger... the sizing is very small. I am a size 14-16 and the largest one just fits. I ordered 2 by accident so gave one to my daughter who is a size 4 and the largest size looks good on her, albeit a little big but not huge.
