I am new to Cajons and purchased this after borrowing a friends LP Aspire which is a snare style Cajon. This one is a Flamenco with wires that make this sizzle sound instead of actual drum snares I purchased this Cajon for home use to accompany guitar playing during jam sessions with friends. I narrowed my decision to this unit mostly due to the positive reviews on Amazon, though I couldn't find any videos showing people playing it which was a bit troubling. I don't have a lot of experience with Cajons but in my opinion this sounds better than the LP with a distinct deep base sounds with a nice sizzle snare sounds from the strings. The snare effect is adjustable with a set of screws on the bottom of the drum. The fit and finish is good. Nice rounded edges and nice wood grain. Also seems sturdy. I am 6'2 and while I wish it was a bit taller it seems okay for my height. This is my first experience with Pyle who seems to be a new player in this market. Hopefully the drum will last a long time and continue to please. Its really a blast to play.

The PCJD18 Cajon arrived on time with no damage to the drum. All the screws on the face of the drum were pretty tight. I had to loosen the screws at the top corners and the first one along each side just a little to get the sound I was looking for. The guitar wires were also tight. A little adjustment was needed there as well. Check out YouTube videos on how to tune a Cajon. With the adjustments made it was time to play. I have over 15 years of drumming experience. Although this is my first Cajon! First impressions, I felt like the drum was tight and not as responsive as I expected. Over the next few days I continued to make fine adjustments. The bass became clean and clear with the snare having a crisp snap on the corners. I was also able to tune a nice full snare sound between the top of the drum and the sweet spot for the bass. I have had the drum for seven days and played it a lot! It has become very responsive with great sounds. If you decide to purchase this drum, make fine adjustments and be patient. I’m glad I did! Final thoughts after having the drum for a week- The drum is well built and sturdy. No rough edges and a nice finish. With adjustments and some playing time, I couldn’t be more pleased with the response and sound of this drum. I think it would be hard to find a drum of this sound and quality for a lower price. I would recommend this drum to a friend!

This is my first Cajon, I sold my drum kit I never had time or space to learn properly, and went for this little beauty instead! I love it, a great compact size if you love to take it along to music nights to keep rhythm like I do, but are overwhelmed by a full drum kit. It’s very light and portable, and you can put a mic inside if you want to give your playing some oomph. I read so many reviews before going with this model, and repeatedly I saw musicians with far greater experience than I have, extolling this little boxes sound virtues. That was good enough to convince me, and I’m so pleased I bought this fun piece of kit for myself. Very easy to adjust the sound, beautiful wood quality, comfortable to sit on and so simple to play. This is what I should have got originally when I was dreaming of drumming! My husband has a band, and now I think in a very short time I will be able to join in and not embarrass him!

I received my PYLE PCJD18 cajon three days ago. The box arrived sooner than expected and the cajon was even better than what I expected. I have played several in the 200 to 300 dollar range that do not sound or look near as good as this one. Excellent full bass drum sound with crisp snare effect once tuned. The cajon comes tuned right for shipping on both the face upper as well as the strings. A quarter to half turn on the outside screws on top plate and and a half turn on the strings woke the cajon up. I am very pleased with this purchase. In summary: It is built well with a nice finish. It has a deep bass sound and the snare is very crisp. It is easily tuneable for the sound or effect you need for your particular taste.

While in the mountains my son found a handmade drum like this one, he was been begging for a drum set, it was $350. Which isn’t a lot for fine craftsmanship but my son was 5! Found this drum on Amazon for a much affordable price! Gave to him for his 6th birthday. If you could have seen his face!!! Drum sounds Amazing. Has all the same qualities as the custom one. He plays it daily. We are still getting use to the noise 🤣, good thing the dog is deaf!!! I think there was a issue during shipping and the front is the drum was slightly cracked (he would have never known) emailed customer service and they sent him a new one right away. Followed up every step of the process! Truly the best CS I have dealt with in a long time!!! I would definitely recommend and purchase again!! My son is a very tall slim 6 yr old in the picture. My 9 yr old fits on it perfect, even my 6’ husband sit comfortably on it!

Just received this Cajon so I cannot speak to the longevity yet, but I can say this - the sound and quality have already vastly exceeded my expectations. There is real craftsmanship in this drum, and at this price point that is saying something. I half expected to receive a children's quality instrument due to the low price, but what I got is a big boy Cajon that sounds wonderful. I didn't have to adjust the snare at all to get a nice sound out of it. There is a clear separation between the bass note and the snare which was my main concern. I'm looking forward to learning all of its sweet spots and just building a relationship with this drum - I think I'll have it a long time before I feel the need to upgrade to a professional level. I got this on sale for around 75 dollars, which is an absolute steal, but after seeing the quality I would gladly pay the full 100 for this. If you're looking around for a quality Cajon at a ridiculously low price, you cannot go wrong with this. Whether you're a beginner just getting into it, or a pro that needs something other than his mainstay to travel around with, I believe you'll be happy with this instrument!

I bought this Cajon for my kids and grandkids to play and it has lived up to my expectations and the many positive reviews I have read online. For the price and compared to other more expensive cajon, it seems to be an excellent deal. The sound of the snare is bright and snappy and my PCJD18 is also capable of creating a solid bass tone right out of the box. Playing this cajon feels good and is easy on the ears, there's no dullness or difficulty producing the snapping percussive sound expected from this type of string cajon. I haven't even adjusted the internal strings or the front plate yet but learned how to do that by watching the "Pyle PCJD18 Overview Video" online. I have little doubt that a wide variety of sounds and tones can be produced by this instrument. I'm aware that not all cajon instruments can even be adjusted like this. I'm not worried about it supporting my weight or the weight of anyone I know. I would not expect it to be made from the finest wood or materials but it feels solid and put together well enough for me. The feet are stable and the cajon doesn't slip around. I can recommend this cajon to beginners and children and, possibly, to more experienced cajon players as well!

I have really been enjoying this Cajon. I have had it a few weeks now and am still learning how to get the best sound out of it. As a musician I will say I don't think this is the best tone or sound quality that can be had in a Cajon but it does have a nice sound and does have several different tones depending on how hard and where you hit it. I like the guitar strings because you can adjust them and I ended up putting them back to close to they way they were when it came in the mail. The main adjustment I made that made a big difference was loosening the top four screw a little bit and cleaning away a bit of glue that was holding it together at the top, this makes the slap sound much easier to get and it sounds great now. Over all this Cajon has exceeded my expectations as a beginner instrument and it makes a nice addition to my living room too.

I’ve been looking and auditioning for a good cajon in every music store in our city. I also watched youtube reviews and soundtests of different brand of cajon. I was doubtful initially to buy this cheaper priced Pyle cajon model PCJD18 online. When I received it, I was surprised with the quality and craftmanship as it was durable and made with real birchwood. It has simple design but a good sounding cajon is what you are really looking for. It produces deep punchy bass and quick precise notes. The face is sensitive and its volume and resonance can fill the room with sound. It has an adjustable snare that is a great feature and overall after playing it for quite sometime now I could say that it is comparable if not better to the pricey cajon in store or online. I highly recommend this great buy to everyone.

Arrived in good time and grandson is delighted with it. Has been jamming with his friends. Nice and solid and looks good too.
