Bought this after a failed version for my 50lb lab mix. She pulls but the last leash I bought was supposed to be rated 0-85lbs so I thought it would be fine. It held up about a month and snapped. This one feels way more durable than that, and immediately upon opening I could tell it would function better and longer, it feels super sturdy. The clasp is a nice size. I think I could've maybe sized down to the medium but I didn't want to repeat the last experience where it snapped so I sized up and ultimately I think this will hold up a long time, hopefully through the rest of my dogs life. I got black cuz it was the cheapest, so the color is as expected but not anything fancy lol. I don't think there's any reflectiveness added so if that's something you value this might not be the right leash. It locks really easily and holds firm. It fits in my hand and my husbands. It is a bit heavy/bulky but I got the 26ft one so it's about what I expected it to be lol. If this one does happen to fail I would buy it again, it's the best quality I've found for this leash type so far

This is a fantastic leash! I’ve tried dozens of brands and types. I really appreciate that is does not tangle between my dog’s legs easily, and it readily extends and retracts perfectly. I’ve been using it several times a day over the past 2.5 months, and I consider our usage to be on the hard side. I have no problem confirming that it holds up exceptionally well under hard use. I use it along with my treat belt, so, I attach it to the belt thru the built in handle, and it’s very lightweight. This allows me to walk my dog hands free, which I love, while still maintaining excellent control over my furry beast. I have now repurchased the longer version, and they both work equally as well.Wonderful product. Well worth the price. Definitely buy one….you won’t be sorry!

Before this, I'd tried my luck with a less expensive product that turned out to be a waste of time, if not money. I returned that product after having given it a fair shot for about a week, having been convinced in the end that it was just no good. As soon as I had this leash in my hands, I knew immediately the quality was much higher. I put it to work right away on a nice, long walk with my dog, who is still a puppy with lots of energy and very strong. The retraction mechanism worked perfectly, and the guide where the tape reels in and out did a good job of making sure it didn't get tangled, but the best part was the locking mechanism. I think that's the weak spot in the less expensive knock-offs, but in this leash, it worked flawlessly every time. It locks and unlocks easily, and will stay locked when you press the switch to engage that. This leash is a bit heavier than others I've tried, but in a good way. It does not feel flimsy or cheap at all. Everything works smoothly, and it feels quite strong. Time will tell, but I think this will be something that will last, even with an eager and strong puppy pulling on it when she sees a squirrel.

I had a 7 year old Flexi lead that was beginning to lose it's spring action. This purchase is a replacement for that unit. It's been performing flawlessly. From Day 1. Great Product!!!

I thought I had originally purchased a Medium Classic Flexi Retractable Web Leash about 4 years ago, but after receiving this as a replacement I could tell my original was different. So I dug up my old Amazon receipt and sure enough I had originally purchased something that was sized M/L and that there in lies the difference. So the difference between an M and an M/L is the metal clasp or latch on the end of the leash that connects to the D-ring on a dogs collar. The M/L leash strap and body were pretty much the same as the M but the metal clasp/latch was the size of the L and actually better material than the new L that I just purchased. The M/L latch was a very good feeling quality and either made of all stainless steel or it could have been a nickel plated brass which is still good. The new latches still are rust resistant or proof but made of a potted metal like zinc or some other cast or sintered alloy and very light weight in comparison to a solid brass or stainless steel and I'm sure much less sturdy. The heavy latch is probably what uprated the M/L to the strength of todays L...110lbs. So the main reason for returning this M and getting the L is also the size of the latch that came on this M. It is much smaller than the M/L and the L and since my dog wears a harness with a double D-ring the small latch on the M was insufficient. My dog is a poodle and weighs 45 pounds, not really all that big and under the M 55lbs limit but that extra small latch/clasp was just to small to hook up both D-rings properly on my dogs harness. One last thing. After trying this M on my dog with that small lightweight latch I would never size a leash or anything for that matter without a generous factor of safety. The M/L was rated at 110lbs too I believe and since the only real difference is the latch, that would tell me the latch is crucial and integral in sizing these leashes. So this M leash is rated at 55lbs but I would never trust that latch on a 55lbs dog especially if the dog were aggressive....too risky. So if your dog is anywhere near 50lbs or even just over 40lbs then get the Flexi Classic in L and you'll be happy you did. The webbing on the L is a little heavier than the M. The overall handle size and weight between the M and L is not that much different and marginal at that. Plus you get the larger heavier latch that is really the last line of defense on losing your dog due to equipment failure. So don't skimp.

After viewing many options on Amazon, I bought this leash for my four month old German Shepherd. It seems sturdy, durable, and of good quality. It seems easy to use and a good value for the money.

I like it but the leash fray when it rubs up against brick. I have steps with brick wall and every time the leash rubs against the brick it frays. If don't live in a urban setting where you will encounter cement steps, brick buildings that the leash can rub up against. It'll be great.

Good quality and durability. Walk my dogs at least once a day, and just purchased a replacement leash after 7 years. Easy to grip and smooth operation.
