Concrete Epoxy for Anchoring & Crack Repair

This is good stuff! I used it to repair a disintegrating front step. After it cured it was quite tough, and had a smooth, glossy grey texture (don't expect it to look like concrete). A hint: Work quickly! It starts out fairly thick, and on a warm day you may only have about 10 minutes before it gets difficult to work with and won't level well.

I used this product to anchor vertical rebar in a concrete footing to provide reinforcement for a stone wall. Epoxy is preferable to cement based products to avoid problems with expansion or contraction of the bonding material. This product was chosen for its relatively long cure time and because it can be used without a special gun. Many epoxies cure rapidly and/or require special tools. I wanted to be sure I would have plenty time to fill the holes and install the bars as desired. With regard to pull out strength, I can't comment on the actual performance in my application, of course, but it does cure as advertised and makes an apparently strong bond to the concrete and bar. If you believe the published product specifications, the product is suitable for many construction applications. If you require compliance with standards, note that as of August 2011 the product was NOT reevaluated for compliance with the Uniform Building Code, which was updated for earthquakes and broken concrete. Be sure to check the product Web-site for recommended hole depths and diameters for your application, and follow directions carefully to ensure relatively high pullout strengths. As suggested by the product description, it can be used in a number of applications other than anchoring bars in concrete. I also used this product to repair broken sections of terra cotta drainpipe where gutter down spouts met the pipe at grade level. I used duct tape to hold the pipe in place while the epoxy cured. The results were very good. The only drawback of this product as shipped is that it comes with two nozzles. Be sure to plan accordingly if you expect to be doing a number of small jobs. Nozzles for similar products may be available locally and might fit the cartridge.

The epoxy itself is great! The self mixing nozzle made it extremely difficult is dispense. Honestly my hands were sore the next day from squeezing my caulking gun so hard. I do lots of DIYs around my home and this one really challenged me. I ended up taking off the nozzle and mixing the epoxy by hand in disposable bowl. I used a nitrile glove to smooth the epoxy once I applied it with a popsicle stick. The epoxy set just as expected and was exactly what I needed. I was using this to fill cracks on my concrete block foundation. I don't think the product is bad, the application is the issue.

Although the epoxy is listed for crack crack repair and anchoring (have never used it for either), it is terrific for bonding different materials together. I've used it to bond metal to wood, metal to plastic, and metal to metal. If the surfaces are smooth you'll need to roughen both surfaces for maximum bonding. To dispense the product I don't use the applicator/mixer tip because it wastes a lot of epoxy and the epoxy is thick and it is hard to force the epoxy through the tip. I take the lid and two small caps off the white and gray components, squirt them onto a piece of cardboard and mix with a putty knife. It's easy to do. Apply to the materials to be bonded, set them aside, (I don't clamp them) and let the epoxy cure overnight. To clean up the putty knife I use rubbing alcohol before the epoxy starts to harden. A great product.

While this is very strong and probably works wonderfully on flat surfaces, it is very runny and does not do well on vertical surfaces. I spent 20 minutes having to keep pushing it back up the wall as it started to sag. Additionally, I tried to apply it to a slightly damp wall, and it is so hydrophobic, that it just slid off and wouldn't adhere. I don't think that any of it is still on the damp wall.

One of the best products I’ve used yet. If you follow the instructions. You’ll have no issues. It spreads and Fills really easy. Drys harder than concrete. If you’re fixing stuff around the house. Or out at your favorite spot. You’ll love this. It’s not temporary though. Once it sets it’s not coming out.

This helped me repair a yard ornament made of concrete. A contractor knocked it over and broke a leg off so it would not stand up anymore.

It's really amazing epoxy adhesive. Easy to use. So strong that might stop an elephant. I fixed a 60mm 12mm Dia Fe500 iron rod in a hole with this adhesive.Out of 60mm rod only 35 mm rod was outside the hole. After 12 hours we bend this rod without a small crack in joint. It makes my many tasks simple. Now it became a necessity because it makes so strong bond beyond one's imagination. I recommend it to all my colleagues. Thanks.
