Works Great for Anemia, No Digestive Side Effects
My doctor diagnosed me with anemia and wanted me to start taking an iron supplement. I did some research and high levels of iron supplement can cause constipation, so I wanted something that wouldn't cause that, but still give me the extra iron. I decided on these because they're slow release, thus not causing constipation. I've been taking them for 3 months now. They do change the color of stool to almost black and make it messier, but hasn't changed frequency. I just got my blood retested and after 3 months of taking these, my red blood count went up almost 3% and my hemoglobin and hemocrit went up several percent as well. My doctor was pleased with the results. After about a month and a half, I noticed my energy level was better and I didn't feel as exhausted. I'm still taking them every day. Another bonus of these is that they are small like a Sudafed. I am not someone who can swallow pills - I'm still afraid to after the choking incident of 1992 on a pill when I was a kid. These however, are small enough to swallow easily with a sip of water. Very happy with the results from these and am continuing to take them.

Helpful product! Very easy on the stomach.
This is the only iron pill I've been on that doesn't upset my stomach, doesn't leave a weird, metallic taste in my mouth and is overall very easy on the whole digestive system... if you know what I mean. Now, because it is slow absorbing, certain foods and drinks will need to be avoided (such as black and green teas) for about 2-3 hours after taking this, since they have a tendency to block the iron absorption. Although, taking a vitamin C tablet or gummy will speed up the absorption process. Anyway, I've been taking this for awhile now and it's been really effective on my anemia. Pretty decent price too. I'd recommend it to anyone who needs some extra iron.

Works for my anemia (doctor recommended it)
I was tired for years until a new doctor tested my blood and found out I had anemia. He recommended I try Slow Fe to see if it helped. He told me it doesn't cause as many stomach issues and constipation as other iron supplements. My doctor was 100% percent right. I can even take this without food, though it's still best that you eat something first. I've been taking it for months and have had constipation three times which is not a lot for me. Talk to your physician first, I cannot stress that enough. But if they recommend taking iron supplements, Slow Fe is what to get.

The reason I chose this brand is because this is the one her doctor recommended, and even before the cancer surgery (where they ...
I ordered these for my mom, who was anemic. It turned out she was anemic because she had colon cancer. The reason I chose this brand is because this is the one her doctor recommended, and even before the cancer surgery (where they removed 12" of her large intestine), they told her to keep taking this, while they took her off all other meds including vitamins. She had no problems tolerating it whatsoever, it made her feel better, and she's got a pretty weak stomach that is easily upset. Perhaps those who have had issues with it weren't really anemic. Iron can technically poison you if you overdo it, so I suspect some people who had issues taking it may not have really had an iron deficiency. If you DO have an iron deficiency... it may be a good idea to get a routine colonoscopy to make sure you don't have other issues. My mom's anemia and iron deficiency saved her life, it made her get the colonoscopy, which detected her cancer early enough that it hadn't metastasized yet. Definitely wouldn't call this a 'supplement', but if you are iron deficient (as detected by blood test), THIS is the supplement you want and need, and the one several doctors I've talked to tell you to get.

Brought my iron levels back in range in less than a month!
I suffer from anemia, and I have tried many iron supplements to get my levels up. My doctor recommended Slow Fe, and I'm so glad she did! This one is the best I have ever tried for several reasons: - Easy on the stomach. This is a tiny pill (smaller than a pencil eraser) and easy to take. No pain and no nausea from taking. Yes it will turn your stools black though, as with most iron supplements. No need to worry. - No lactose. This is key for those like me who are lactose intolerant. - Effective absorption! My iron levels were back in range in less than a month after taking this twice daily. I'd only recommend taking it so frequently under the supervision of a doctor, because my levels climbed up pretty fast. My serum iron, CBC (hemoglobin), ferritin, and total iron were back up to levels that I only previously was able to obtain by getting an IV iron infusion. I'm hoping to go down to taking this supplement once daily soon, and then maybe every other day. I can't speak to whether this constipates, because my doctor has me taking a stool softener in conjunction with this product since I'm taking it twice daily. The only drawback I can see is that it contains an artificial dye. I haven't been able to find another type of ferrous gluconate on the market that is both lactose free and has no dyes. The product is a bit difficult to open. Each pill is individually blister packed. I'm assuming that's to keep it fresh. You will need to put in a little effort to get out the pill.
