They're slightly round and will not stand up.

No. You manipulate the hole until it fits over the tube.

Does it fit the two different sizes of toothpaste tubes?

Yes it does BUT the toothpaste doesn't go back in the cap and it makes a mess. The caps are silicone so they fit both tubes.

Has anyone tried these for acrylic paint?
