what kind of rubber is the roller?

It is very dense, not pliable, does not mar with fingernail. Indestructible. Black rubber does NOT rub off onto paper, even after years of use.

Could the rubber be carved to make a texture pattern roller?

Hard to answer definitively. The rubber is pretty firm, so I suspect it would be difficult to carve a pattern in it. But I guess if you have the right tools and the patience it might be possible.

Is this roller oil resistant? Any roller can handle acrylic, water-based paints. Solvents in oil-based paints require oil resistant roller.

I doubt it. This roller is extreamely cheap and seems more like a toy than a practical roller.

Does this fit a threaded extension handle?

The handle is fixed by rubber and does not fit a threaded extension handle.
