Reggie Backband Black

I bought the Reggie backband to replace the original backband on a Seaward Quest sea kayak. To install I watched the installation video twice, headed to the dock with a drill, a tape measure, spanner/wrench and screwdriver...had it installed with no fuss very quickly. I made a small customization drilling two holes and installing a single padeye in the rear bulkhead from which I ran elastic cord to the Reggie so the band won't collapse down when I flop into the kayak. It now holds my rump/lower back firmly, stays inj place when I'm rushing to get into the kayak and has proven to be a no-brainer/non-issue - it simply does its job very well. An elegant simplicity. Highly recommended.

I bought this for mu dagger gforce to upgrade the standard one. Works great and now my kayking has improced and comfort is much better. Easy to fit

This is not suitable for whitewater. While it's not disclosed in the bullet points, the ratchets are behind the seat, not near the knees. That means you can't tighten the backband while inside the boat. You have to get out. While this may be OK for flatwater paddling, whitewater kaykers need a tighter fit.

It is one of the more advanced back Band systems on the market today. I've been paddling for many years and have outfitted several hundred customer boats over the years. So I know A good product when I see it. Immersion Research products are made by boaters for Boaters

I suffered from cockpit sleeping-leg syndrome for some time. I solved that problem by using a thigh support pillow, but I found it inconvenient and have heard stories of it interfering with a wet exit. After installing this backband, I no longer need the pillow. Improved comfort and safety!The backband seems wellmade and I expect years of carefree use.Installation was straightforward enough with the provided side-extensions, but could've been tough without my Dremel tool, as I had to drill out a slot in each of the seat hangers for the extensions.

Easy to install and provides a good amount of support despite not being a forward ratchet system.

Comfortable, low band that fits all three boats in my diverse sea kayak fleet, including the hard to fit Nigel Dennis.
