Could you use this on your front for bus/train journeys?

Don't think so, it would be too big with a dog in it

I’ve just bought this but realised it doesn’t have a hole for the dogs tail. Is this not going to be uncomfortable?

They seem to just wrap their tail around like they do when sleeping or sitting, neither of my two have shown any discomfort. If you're worried about their weight on the tail, you could always do what I've done and put some foam in the bottom for a bit of extra protection. I think having their tail out in a hole might be more dangerous, in fact.

Can I put this on my back with pet, on my own or do you need help putting it on?

I'm able to put my dog in by myself but it's a whole lot easier with someone else around to make sure they're in the right position and sitting comfortably

Can you wear the rucksack on your front?

Possibly but would be uncomfortable for the dog I would think as the front legs and face would be facing your chest rather than forwards
