Remo Buffalo Drum - Black Earth, 16"

So I was hesitant in spending so much on a drum I could not find many videos on. I took the chance & im so glad I did! This drum has such a bass like boom to it. It sent shivers to my body. Depending where you hit the drum it has different tones. What a good drum to have for many reasons. Sound healing and singing is what I’ll use it for. I’m hooked and want to take it anywhere & everywhere. Yes it’s large & in charge. Seems to be built well, sturdy and easy to handle. Beautiful black color with tan roping. So glad I took a chance! Fast shipping. Packed very well. Company sent some extra goodies. Even comes with two year warranty! Now I want to see what the others are like! So ready for my gatherings now! Video coming soon, although video doesn’t do the sound justice. You just can’t pick up how loud low and boomy it is. The sound resonates & you can feel the vibrations.

This 16-inch buffalo drum is incredibly solid. The shell has a great weight to it—light enough to hold comfortably for long playing sessions, but dense enough that it doesn’t feel fragile. The textured finish on the side is subtle and premium-looking, with a matte texture that doesn’t show grease or fingerprints.In terms of playability, the pre-tuned synthetic head is the real highlight. Unlike natural hide, it doesn't warp or lose its pitch when the humidity changes, so you get a consistent, incredibly deep, and warm bass resonance every single time. The rope handle on the back is woven securely into a four-point grip that makes it simple to balance and hold without fatiguing your hand.The included mallet is a bit basic, but the soft-felt head draws out a really rich, low-frequency rumble without any harsh slapping sounds. This drum sounds significantly better than it looks like it should, especially for it's size. It has a wonderful warm tone that carries nicely and cuts through other instrument without sounding abrasive. I get tons of compliments on it's sound every time I use it. You can get a couple different tones out of it depending on where you strike it. This drum literally makes you feel good to play it, or just to hear it. It's a "must have" addition to any sound bath arsenal.

This is a fantastic drum ! It really gives you inner peace . It sounds better then the ones that cost much more .

I was a little hesitant to buy this drum. There are not really many videos I could find to see the quality and sound of the drum. I was going to get a handmade drum with an animal hide, but it was out of my price range. I saw a video on Gaia and the shaman was using this drum. I decided to look it up on Amazon and saw the price and the great reviews. The shaman did mention that it was good for high humidity areas. I live in the south and we are constantly humid especially in the summer.I was blown away with the quality and the sound of this drum! It is absolutely amazing and outstanding! The vibration off this drum really resonates, you can feel it within your body it's awesome! I would not hesitate to purchase this drum if anyone is thinking about it.It is made very well, and the quality is top-notch! I have already recommended it to friends and one of them has already made the purchase.If you want a great quality sounding drum, for a great price, this is it!

Im coming back to buy a second one of these after an unfortunate off camp longboardin accident left the drum (and me) in disrepair.Amazing drum and perfect for storm or rain sessions. Hell I took this thing Supping do some drumming with the flow of the river as a guide... honestly I get the whole shamnic or traditional angst in having a synthetic drumhead, but that can be circumvented by the adornment of ritualistic/spiritual items. In the end it will be up to you to decide wether or not the synthetic components jive with your practive. However I can assure you that this drum has some deep kick and bellowing echos, drawing whatever state you need with ease. The durability adds the ability to wander to whatever maximums you need to achieve your state of spiritualityOf course if you are in it for the instrumental or noise making aspect, this thing is perfect. I heard someone says theirs was out of tune in a review, however mine did not seem this way and I can update this review if need be (when my second one arives). I did bring mine to a music festival out in penslyvania and I can say that it got a ton of attention. The sound is a unique, bassy but not strictly low sound. It does not have as high of a ring as some of the smaller drums or as previlent of a mid of the bigger (non bass) drums, but rather a little bit of both. Solo or in small circles it will probably be the root drumbeat. However don't be afraid to experiment with its qualities as a supportive or even lead drum (in the end circles are pretty loose anyway so it's not like any one drum is tied to a role)I mean the mallet isn't the best, but it's a dilute enough not to knock off a star (also making a mallet or free handing can be a very rewarding option)

This drum has the richest and tight bass sound I've ever heard from only a 16 inch drum. Sounds like this kind of bass would be coming from a much bigger size drum. I had to return it because a black drum is not good for me to play in my pray room. I got the white 22 inch drum thinking it would be louder and more bass, but I was very disappointed when i heard it sounding very twanggy instead of the boom. The 22 inch white drum doe not produce bass, you literally hear twang twang instead of boom boom. I returned the 22 inch and got the 16 inch white drum, which sounds like twanggy but nothing like the tight solid base from the 16 inch black version. The black drum head is made from vinyl, and the white drum head is made from something they call fiber skin, which is complete garbage in my opinion for it to be on a drum that is meant for bass. I really don't have much time to write reviews, but I want to write this to let people know to get the right drum and it makes a whole big difference more than just picking the color you like of black or white. Remo, great job on the black drum, horrible idea on the fiber skin.

Uitmuntend mooie, warme klanken. Speelt heel fijn. Kheb zelf nog andere tippers, sticks etc gekocht, dan kan je nog meer verschillende geluiden eruit krijgen. Zelfs met je eigen duim vind ik hem ook heel mooi klinken; dat klinkt zacht maar heel mooi. Met een drumstick met zo'n grote witte knots, klinkt het harder maar toch warm. De toon zit tussen de D en E in. Dus vóór echte muzikanten is het te horen, maar voor de meeste mensen klinkt het gewoon heel mooi en aangenaam.Het geluid is ook heel puur; het komt uit de natuur en verdwijnt weer in de natuur. Zelfs de eenden kwamen er opaf, ze kwamen naar me toe zwemmen en bleven als een klein groepje er relaxt naar luisteren. Zó mooi.

I practice shamanic drumming for ceremony and just every day to feel good. For anyone that likes to drum, I know it's unusual to use a synthetic skin, but my oh my, the sound that comes from this drum is incredible. It is resilient, and even with a bit of drizzle in the air I was not worried about it getting loose or the frame getting warped. It's just a whole different experience than using animal skin drums, and if you are vegan, this would be a great alternative. I have played this drum in every type of weather and each time it rewards me with different overtones, my other drums will soon get lonely. Price point also is very good considering the size of the drum, nice deep tones. Comes well packaged, but the shipping process was fraught with difficulties in customs, while I impatiently waited for it's arrival, it was busy for a week sitting in customs. Sign of the times. Just happy to have it and highly recommend.

I already have a 14 inch, and curious about 16 inch.. totally did not disappoint.. love the deep bass from the first beat.. both sizes are great, just the 16 inch has a deeper resonance
