After fighting cloudy water for months and trying a couple of other products that didn’t get me there, this is what finally cleared my pond down to the bottom. It takes time, but it works. Here’s the backstory. Last year I had a serious string algae problem, so I went in and tried to clean up the solids and scrape the dead leaves off the bottom. Doing that kicked up so much algae and dirt that my pond went cloudy for months. My fish were fine the whole time, but I could barely see three inches below the surface. The only time I’d see my fish was when they came up to feed. I was throwing everything I could at it. I used Tetra AlgaeCide, which did help with the algae itself but didn’t clear the cloudiness, and I tried water clarifiers that didn’t do it either. Then I added this. It took a couple of months, but this is what finally got it clear. Not just clear enough to see the fish, but clear down to the bottom of the pond. It’s easy to use, but it’s a regimen, not a one-and-done. You dose it over the first several weeks, on a weekly schedule, so don’t expect overnight results. Check the bottle for the exact dosing chart. Now a real warning. I’ve seen reviews say it smells like rotten eggs. I wish. Rotten eggs would be an upgrade. I’d gladly take a plate of rotten eggs over another whiff of this. But that smell is exactly how you know it’s working. It’s the hydrogen sulfide, and that’s what keeps the bacteria dormant and gives the bottle its long shelf life. So the funk is a feature. The useful tip that comes out of that: if you ever open a bottle and it smells like burnt rubber instead, or the liquid looks greyish white rather than pinkish brown, that batch is dead and you should grab a fresh one. A living bottle should smell like the apocalypse. And pour it carefully. I speak from experience. I got some on my fingers and regretted it for the next few hours, because that smell does not want to leave your skin. Most important part for anyone with fish. It’s safe. All my fish are fine, and I even had fry in the pond at the time. They came through it totally fine and they’re still doing well. That mattered to me more than anything, because a clear pond isn’t worth much if the treatment hurts the fish. I still deal with some algae every year, that’s just pond life. But this stuff is now a permanent part of my system. It’s what balanced my water back out and it’s what I reach for now. Get it.

This product is unbeatable. Regardless the conditions it gets the job done all the time. It smells horrible, but it really works and doesnt harm the fish. Of course it is not recommended to apply simultaneously while feeding the fish obviously. Recommended

If your filtration is adequate, this is a perfect compliment. It gives a boost, helping to clarify the water and also reduce sludge to a small extent. The only drawback is the unholy smell that can penetrate any container. For the first two weeks after opening a container there is a rotten-egg type of aroma that will add a flatulent smell to any room you store it in. I resorted to putting the bottle in two, gallon-sized ziplocks, in the original box, in the original shipping box, in a bathroom cabinet. The smell is so strong that the adjoining room will still reek. This has happened with all 3 bottles I've purchased. Putting it in the garage isn't a good solution as the temps swing too wide. Regardless, if you can find a way to store this for the first couple weeks after opening, until the smell dies down, it's a wonderful way to keep your pond healthy and clean.
