Effing Awesome!!!
This knife is truly amazing! I'm so glad I pulled the trigger. Super solid construction, classic bowie lines, uber tough steel (watch the testing vids, unreal), nice solid sheath, paper slicing sharp out of the box, Plus a little ferro rod, for $20!?!? Yesss! This knife fulfills all the ridiculous knife fantasies you didn't even know you had lol. Cold Steel backs it's badass look and cool minimal design with truly tough, durable construction. You can throw it, chop wood with it, use it in the kitchen, store stuff in the handle, and also turn it into a freaking spear!! Maybe do a little wild boar hunting next weekend, huh? ;) Very fun to throw, both as a knife and a spear. So cool.. I also really like how it is designed to be modified. It allows the owner to customize it to their liking, and encourages you to make it your own. I'm going to carve a curved wooden knob for the end to extend the reach, and to have a heel for chopping brush better. Over time I'll probably whittle up 3 or 4 different handle versions that I can swap out, depending on what I want it for that day. **(That said- If you don't feel like doing any mods and just want a blade ready to go, you might not like this knife as much. The handle, as is, is a little slick, and the end is a little rough/edgy for stabbing. Hand can slide forward if not careful.) Conclusion- This is one of the best, most solid, durable, functional and straight up FUN (and large!) all round use knives I've ever gotten for $20 bucks. Totally worth it. I'm very pleased with my purchase, to say the least.

Ninja weapon all day!
A knife so nice I bought it thrice! But real talk, I have it 4 stars because the last two I bought had small casting craters and grinder knicks on the handle. Still a great buy for the money though.

Great bush knife
Large and sharp. Hollow handle for putting a stick or handle in to make a spear. Very hard and durable. Comes with a fire starter. Sheath is plastic with a plastic belt clip. Knife stays in the sheath by a plastic closure tab. You have to kind of push on it to release which is good because it keeps the knife secure. Plus the price is right. I would just advise wearing gloves or wrapping the handle in tape or paracord as it is smooth and potentially your hand could slip into the blade.

Best Spear
Admit it , you only reason you want this knife in the first place is to make it into a spear. Using it as a knife only would be mediocre at best, and poorly underutilized, and boring. Attach a 4 foot or 5 foot, or 6 foot long (your preference) wooden rake pole (easily purchases from any hardware store) to this Bushman, and it transforms it into a formidable weapon, 200x way better than just using it as a knife. Excellent for fighting, self defence, or hunting, It is also functions well as a walking stick. All aside, the knife is of excellent quality. a weaponized walking stick to defend yourself against wild animals. The knife is rock solid, it is very hard to bend with little flex, and comes hair shaving sharp out of the box. The sheath is made out of very high quality plastic and snaps on very securely. I cant stress enough that it must be made into a spear to be fully appreciated. It is hands down the best spear for the money you can make/build right now.

INTERESTING....
the most raw and industrial appearing knife I've ever owned. it is as stated, all black with hollow handle. The seam is only felt within the handle, not on its exterior. There is a textured coating to the material used to encase the whole of the knife and it feels like fine sandpaper. Very fine. Nearly smooth in fact, amounting to only a bit more than the feel of finish sanded wood. A friction tape of sorts such as hockey stick or plain old electrician’s friction tape ought to do just fine for the handle’s surface to obtain a better grip. To BOWIE or NOT to BOWIE One of two things is going on here… either I clicked onto the wrong version of the Cold Steel Bushman, or cold Steel or Amazon, sent the wrong knife. Looking at the title while scribling this account says it may well have been ‘pilot error’. Ouch. If… it is supposed to be a BOWIE version, Be advised! the Bowie clip blade portion of this knife is no where near what a Bowie knife IMO looks like. not even close. the Bowie clip on this knife amounts to only a descending angle from the spine of the blade to its point, and it is unfinished and consequently, duller than a Rush Limbaugh rant on liberals. The chosen descending form along the spine reduces the belly of the blade, or its curved portion to a minimum. The tip of the blade however is scary sharp! it is disappointing too that as a supposed BOWIE, it is implied the clip would be inline with the knife’s spine, and sharpened along the last few inches as Bowie knives are usually fabricated. aAt least, every Bowie I've seen has a sharpened clip for a back cut feature. This one definitely does NOT deliver the BOWIE feature, and it is why the rating I gave it was mediocre. The price is the ONLY reason I did not return it. If PILOT ERROR is/was behind it all, I’d give it a 4 perhaps. The holster isn’t what one should call any sort of retention solution either. APPEARANCES the esthetic and functionality of this knife is purely and quite plainly, industrial. the hollow handle which is a rolled handle allowing for both ends of the handle to be accessible means one will have to consider jaming some capsulated insert into it, if they wish to take advantage of the obvious space this blade affords the owner. the texture which was applied to it fully covers the weapon, except along the working edge. along the WELL sharpened surface you will find a very thin layer of grease. HOLSTER the kydex holster isn't bad. but it is not outstanding either. the retention is meager. the belt area is little more than a folded over arrangement so a belt can slide thru or it can simply be slid down over a belt or pants. there are no actual cut outs for truly securing the holster to a belt. I can see where this blade could easily find itself on the ground if the wearer takes a spill or winds up more heels over head than they might wish. luckily, a small hole is drilled into the upper portion of the handle so a laynyard of sorts or cord could add more security. I held mine fully sheathed, upside down and rattled it vigorusly back and forthe and it did retain the knife. Doing the same jostling from spine to edge had the blade out readily. Even faster still, holding the point of the scabbard and shaking it downward harshly one time, the blade fell out immediately. Cold Steel would have been better served to put some greater thought into blade retention while onboard someone’s belt than to have its name in relief along the face of the sheath. Just saying. Behind the belt/pants clip on there is a large cutout section where the entire kit can be hung on the headd of a bolt or screw. Luckily there’s plenty of loose bolts and screws drilled into trees, rocks, stones and many other places about Mother Nature, for which to clip the thing onto when not needed on your person. I’m guessing this feature workss best around the tool shed or shop area than around camp or on the trail however. this particular bundle came with the fire starter plug which is separate from the knife and has its own round compartment it rides inside and high on the spine side of the knife's holster. . round and but 3 inches long, or less, the item receives outstanding retention in its compartment on the holster. if only the Bushman had as good retention. a bit less than two inches of spark starting rod extends from the Awl like device. As with the Bushman, it has a hole near its top most section, though it is doubtful any cord needs to be thought of for safe keeping. You might lose the blade but you'll definitely have something you might be able to get a fire up and running. Somehow. it seems priorities here with this offering are not the most thoughtful. yes, it is ONLY a $25 affair. but then how hard would it have been to knock out a couple belt loops in the Kydex or add a bit of material for keeping the blade IN the holster? Please, do address this to keep your blade completely secure. some velcro ought to handle it. A pop rivet and a snap on a short piece of material, leather, canvas, or even a rubber band, etc., should do nicely, and would have been worth paying a few dollars more had it been included. I used a lanyard from a flashlight to ensure the blade remains in the holster. This definitely slows deployment but it is better than no knife at all. IT IS SHARP! as for the working edge sharpness? Mine came pretty sharp. it took some hair off my forearm but did not drag smoothly, evidence that some fine finishing work was in store for it pretty soon. albeit for all intents and purposes, it is quite sharp and ready to work, right out of the box. I gained more confidence in just how keen the edge was while opening some mailings, packages, bubble wrapped items, etc. everything that edge faced was slit open effortlessly, leaving behind it very straight, clean lines where the blade had separated the materials. Hmmm. On second thought, the edge isn’t going to need any touch ups or redressing anytime soon. Maybe some stropping, if that. The greater priority then will be assembling something that will definitely keep the knife from exiting it’s sheath, until you want to use it. FINAL THOUGHTS For the money, it is a no brainer purchase, despite the misleading name. it is durable, quite sharp, and possesses definite value. The BOWIE cut can be instituted if the owner has a belt sander and some skills, or has way too much time on their hands and a good set of sharpening stones. Or, it can simply be used as is, which is exactly what I plan on doing with it. A decent, honest to goodness, 10 to 12 inch casual use, BOWIE will remain on the horizon for the time being.

Schnitzen ist also wirklich kein Problem. Die vorherigen Befürchtungen waren also unberechtigt. Klare Kaufempfehlung.

PROS: For $20 bucks on sale and even at $30, the price is very good. This feels like a $100 knife Heavy enough for durability, light enough for comfortability. Versatile knife thay can be used for anything on top of being able to use it as spear due to the hollow handle. Good for recreational spear throwing or as a defensive tool in the woods against bears and mountain lions. VERY SHARP from the box. Be careful. Many people have cut themselves or lost fingers based on amazon and youtube comments. It’s REALLY SHARP. Very high quality. Thin metal compared to the original 90’s version but still good quality. Watch youtube videos about its durability test. Many people have these knife for decades and it’s still functioning. High quality kydex sheath. Fierro rod is included. Even the box looks good, makes it perfect as a gift or collector’s item. CONS: The kydex sheath, while good durable quality, has a case of too much retention. The retention on the sheath is so tight that it takes a bit of effort to remove the knife from it, which is how people get cut . I think it should have just came with a cheap faux leather or nylon sheath, or same sheath but more forgiving retention. CONCLUSION: You will not find a better price under $100 that will give you more versatility and quality than this. Highly recommend it. This is a classic staple knife that should be included along the names of a buck 119/120. If a known brand released this for $150, people would still rush to buy it. Cold steel you should send me something to review 😏
