Decent espresso machine

Very nice looking espresso machine difficult to operate at first but then gets easier once you understand the functionality. Instructions dont help and not clear at all. Steamer is good but nozzle from espresso dispenser leaks while steaming milk. Steaming and espresso dispenser can not be used at the same time. Once you get past that it does make a good cup of coffee. So look at it like it is a retro espresso machine. Very nice and still working great.

For show only

Looks cool, but is useless and cheaply made. Steamer doesn’t work, and the espresso machine itself doesn’t heat up. It just sits there and makes horrible sounds and won’t do anything. I’ll never buy anything from this company again.

Great machine for the price.

This is a great machine for the price. It takes getting use to. The manual is pretty vague. The important thing to know is that you have to break the machine in for 2-3 weeks. You must clean the water tank with soapy water and run a couple tanks of water to clean the machine thru the espresso maker and then run a couple tanks of water thru the frother nozzle to get rid of the plastic smell and taste. If you do that, you will enjoy this maxhine.

Good mid-range espresso machine

I got this a lil while back and wanted to put it to fairly consistent use before reviewing:It's a good machine over all, however, relatively basic. Decent value if you occasionally drink regular espresso or lattes, consistent heating, heats up fairly quickly, and a decent water tank size.It isn't, however, a fancy machine. It's mainly plastic, small, and doesn't have options for other espresso pours like long or ristretto shots. One of the major downsides to it is the steam wand is fairly low and there's no audio cue or indicator when its fully heated up, but fairly easy to work around. Decent machine over all, well worth the money if you don't need anything fancy.

Mid tier

The media could not be loaded. This machine will push water through ground coffee beans. If you are able to achieve an appropriate espresso grind it will make a drinkable quality espresso through the provided portafilter. The used model I purchased does not have a functioning pressure gauge. There is also a functionality issue with the steam wand, when I turn it on water comes out of the group head, so I do not use that. I have purchased a nicer portafilter basket and handle, along some other small accessories for an additional $45 dollars, now it makes dare I say decent espresso. I am using a hario hand grinder which I am pretty happy with for adjusting roast to roast, it does take dialing in individual batches to get good flow with the indeterminate amount of pressure. These machines should not cost more than $100 they are not particularly good in fit/finish, it’s almost entirely plastic but it is reliable to an extent. Just remember- these are not really serviceable, if it dies tomorrow I am not investing the time/$$$ into fixing it, I bought this because it was a step above the bottom tier home espresso machine which I got for less than half its current price. If you want to make good home espresso it may be worth taking the additional time to save for something nicer.

Barista of over 8 years, and published coffee photographer/curator.

Once you get this little beast setup (be gentle and patient, it’s not a $2,000 slayer.), this little espresso machine is my new favorite thing for $100.It seems Galanz did their homework here. They made a plastic machine (who cares, it’s dope), that has higher end hardware inside. It’s clear by the size of the port a filter that this machine is capable of full pressure espresso. The milk frother works beautifully with some patience as well. I’m able to pour latte art just fine. Super dry caps, leave the metal cylinder on, smooth, wet lattes, slide it right off.Brilliant @Galanz. My second product from you (and in this awesome color.). Happy once again. 100%Update: added some photos. :)

Sadly had too many problems: plastic taste and time consuming.

It really sucks when you see reviews and you know that they were all operator error. So going into this I want to say that the machine had a learning curve. What I didn’t like though, made me no longer want to figure out how to run the machine properly. I flushed the machine multiple times, but the coffee kept tasting like plastic. The coffee was nowhere near a temperature that you typically expect coffee to be. There’s no way to adjust the temperature either. I liked the convenience of the tank, the tray below, the coffee color was good, frothiness was nice, automatic stop on shots, and I loved the look. However, when using the wand to steam, even though it indicated it was ready, it would shoot out a large amount of water, enough to soak a paper towel. My optimistic thought, maybe that was a fluke but it happened again and again. The dial to turn the steam on was odd. That’s the best way I can explain it, it wasn’t like your typical dial where you could feel it turn and know that it was turning. So I almost wonder if it was broken. The other thing that was unfortunate was it would still have water coming out through the shot while you were trying to steam. That was even with the dial turned to what was supposed to be strictly steam and the lever to turn off the espresso part was off. I really wanted to try to work with this appliance, but the taste of plastic was overbearingly gross. The time it took to do everything was consuming, that I just felt it wasn’t worth tampering with.
