Is this wallet leather?

Yes. Good quality, bit larger than most wallets, fits more stuff comfortably, better quality than some other Dockers I’ve purchased. Stiffer leather, needs to break in. I’ve had it a few weeks and it’s starting to soften nicely.

Is the "traveler wallet" tall enough to hold british pound notes (without the top edge of the larger currency protruding from the wallet)?

No, it is not tall enough to hold British Pound notes. I was in Scotland in 2019 and found that out. I folded the notes to get them to fit.

What are the dimensions of this wallet when closed?

When closed, the wallet is 4 1/4". The width is apprx 3 1/2".

Does it have a zipper?

Yes, the "Brown" wallet does have a zipper behind the main bill pocket.
