This is such a neat kit, it comes with everything (minus the artwork) to create your own buttons. It takes zero time to set up, once you cut out your artwork it's as easy as placing it in the machine with the film, metal disk, pressing that together before flipping the tray and pressing down on the plastic backing. It takes maybe 2 minutes to make your first pin but goes quicker once you get the hang of where to position the picture. I've used it to pop out promotional pins for my business, it's cheaper than paying someone else to make them and it's easy. I do recommend purchasing a cutting mat because the circle cutter will cut up any surface under it and you want to keep the cutter sharp.

This button maker machine arrives in a cardboard box. Inside you get a circle cutter, some hex wrenches for adjusting tension, the pin making press, pin backings, liner paper, clear plastic film, and the metal backing for the paper. You also get instructions in the box. The pin making press is in a bubble wrap lined separate cardboard box inside of the main one and comes ready to go, pre-assembled, and is made entirely of pretty sturdy plastic. I only made a few pins and not the full 100 that comes with the set so I didn't check if they all were correct nor if the full 100 pins were included. The top sheet of film in the cellophane bag that was packaged in was a little bent which sucked though. The resulting product looks pretty nice, given you have a good printer. You can get the graphic all the way to the edges for a fuller look, and the pins look about the same as the pins you get at a trade show. It was really fun to create some pins of my own, although the 58mm size is quite large and will really show off any design. Overall this is a pretty fun process. I appreciate that the materials for 100 pins are included and that extras are readily available by many different brands, so there is less vendor lock in.

After making nearly 100 buttons, I feel like I have a good review. I am using a photo printer to make photo buttons and they look great! I will say that it takes an extreme amount of force to get them to go together with the thick photos, but they work 99% of the time. I can only do about 10 to 20 back to back before my wrists get sore. With paper, it is easy as pie though! Love that it comes with paper circles for the kids to color!

When I first started with this button maker, I cranked out more upside-down buttons than I care to admit. But once I got the hang of it, I was unstoppable. It comes with everything you need—except the artwork (that’s on you). I’m no artist, but the buttons I made for our high school boys tennis team still turned out great… or at least good enough that no one complained. Bonus: every button is right-side up now!
