Nubuck & Suede Proof

Water-proofed my suede shoes. Definitely works but be wary of the fabric being affected.

Sprayed my boots and clogs. I left them outside for the night because the smell was strong but by morning it was fine.

ok, so I haven't tested how well it actually waterproofs - very dry weather pattern here now. This rating and review is a word of caution for those who care about the color of whatever item they are waterproofing. Nikwax says can be applied on wet or dry footwear, but that it is more effective when applied to wet. I had a pair of brand new suede boots in a medium/ medium light brown. Since they didn't need to be cleaned (never worn), I followed directions and wet the first boot (much as I hated to and it seemed counter-intuitive), then sprayed on the nikwax, waited 2 minutes, wiped off the excess, and let dry. 1/2 hour later, it looked and felt exactly the same as the other one of the pair that I didn't touch that was serving as the 'control' boot for this test. I was pleasantly surprised and thrilled! Thinking I would save myself a step and not really caring if the boot was quite as waterproof as it could be since I didn't intend to wear it in anything more than a light drizzle, I skipped wetting the second boot in the pair and just sprayed the nikwax on the clean, dry suede. Well, it darkened several shades immediately as the first boot did when it got wet, but unfortunately never returned to its original color once the waterproofer dried. So, I was left with one light brown boot and one dark brown boot. In order to make them match, I ended up spraying the first boot with the waterproofer again, but without wetting the boot first. Sure enough, it too turned and stayed several shades darker so at least now they match and I can wear them. Other people may have had different experiences, but for me - long story short: wet the item first and the color should stay very close to original once it dries. Spray on dry suede and expect a permanently darker item.

It successfully waterproofed my suede Birkenstock Bostons, making the structure of the shoe more stable as well. It offers multiple applications, so it's a great value for the price. It doesn't have a strong smell unlike most leather treatments. For your safety, I would suggest that you put something under the shoes while spraying because it makes hardwood floors extremely slippery and it is very hard to fully clean it off the floors.

Love this stuff! I've used it for a long time and works very well for providing waterproofing. Great for suede, only a very minor change in the color of the suede upon application, just a tiny bit darker. Honestly, once it dried, hard to tell the difference. Easy to apply.

Used this on multiple pairs of shoes and a suede bag, no stains so far and easy to apply. There is a slight scent when you initially apply it, but nothing that lasts.

This is a well regarded product in the shoe care community. However, this little bottle is quite small making it rather pricey. The major issue I've had is that the seal on the bottle is not tight. On my last order, most of the fluid leaked out. Also, the fluid evaporates even if you manage to seal the cap. Next time, I'm going with an aerosol product.

Works extremely well and the spray bottle is better than an aerosol product as you do not have to worry about inhaling any toxic vapours. This is a low odour product as well, sprayed outside then brought boots in after 10-15 mins, no issues with lingering odour/fumes. Would recommend buying to protect your new footwear from the ravages of snow, ice, road salt, rain and other weather that may result in cold wet feet and a sad day.

Very easy to use and did not discolor the suede shoes I used it on.
