Does what it supposed to do
Iโm on city water and they treat it with chlorine canโt even taste the chlorine this filter is the best filter I have used in my whole house filter system . When I change the filter I had it out front by my garbage can to throw it out and my neighbor saw it and she said what is that and I said thatโs what comes from my water If I didnโt have this whole house fillter. it takes the chlorine out And filters your water so your water taste good she just couldnโt believe it

An exact replacement
Perfect replacement for our water filter. We do not filter the whole house, as the builder has the same pipes that supply cold into the house also go to the sprinkler system and hoses, so the filter only does the input to the water heater. But notice a huge difference in even that as far as reducing chlorine smell. Great!

Waste of time and money
Installed and a piece broke off obstructing our entire water flow. Had to call for service which was expensive.

Large Whole House Water Filters
I use these in my whole house dual water filtration system. They work great to remove chlorine from the water. I think Amazon has the best price on these. The only water not going through these is the lawn sprinkler water so they last at least a year. By having two of these in parallel the pressure at the tap is not reduced at all. Be aware, some filters that look the same only remove grit not chlorine.

Top Notch Whole House Filters
I've been using these for years. They filter out both the particles and chlorine in the water. The Amazon subscribe and save price is unbeatable.

Great filter but change it when you need to!
I live in a decent size town in New Jersey and the water company tells me that my side of town gets its water from a large community well. I purchased this 817 filter because 3M said it is the one to use with any well water. The company says replace the filter any time between six months and a year. Just out of curiosity I replaced the filter after 3 months. I was totally shocked to find the original pure white filter was totally black! It looked like it was covered in chocolate syrup, that's how bad it was. So in my home I change the filter every 3-4 months. I am very happy I have it on my cold water line since I don't want to drink or cook with that black gunk!

Helps make our water taste better!
These water filters are excellent for removing small pebbles, chlorine and other chemicals. We have definitely cut down the amount of calcium coming into the house. We have much less of the white, chalky stains on our sinks and faucets now. I don't think it removes fluoride, unfortunately. I think you need a reverse osmosis system for that. But it certainly has made our water taste better and "sweeter"!
