I don't write many reviews but I feel I owe it to singer with this one. I own a Quantum Stylist 9960 all singing all dancing quilting machine that I imported from America and had the power supply switched to the UK version on, wanted a backup machine and chose the heavy duty 5511 for several reasons. Before I go on if anyone was wondering it's the 4411 with a white case on, I wanted this colour but if the 4411 is cheaper then go for that one. Firstly the speed, it has a much more powerful motor and does 1100 to the Quantum Stylist's 700, as you rarely have everything turned up with your foot to the floor this makes a bigger difference than you would think. If you feel the 5511's foot is too powerful out the gate there is a hole on the side of the pedal you put a screwdriver in and you can turn the sensitivity down on it. The second reason is a strange one and it's the non-automatic 4 step buttonhole. Automatic button holes on a a fully electronic machine are not all they are cracked up to be for someone not used to them trust me. Mostly because if anything goes wrong you will have to turn off the machine and everything resets. 4 step gives you much more control and is amazingly simple, it does long stitches on the top, click, it zig zags down. click, long stitch at bottom, click, and back to the other end. At each stage you get to stop and check it's all going ok. I was surprised at how compact it was in comparison to the quantum stylist, it is surprisingly small and light for such a powerful machine. It is also a lot quieter. Build quality of the outer casing is better as well but that's a negative point for the quantum. No it does not have all the same features as a high end quilting machine, no needle up/down button, no automatic tension, and only has 11 stitches but as a simple straight stitch or zig zag machine the 5511/4411 just *better* than the quantum stylist 9960.

Every Singer machine is of excellent quality and delivers excellent sewing performance. I can highly recommend it. I think it's a good price for those on a smaller budget. I had another Singer machine and used it for years; it's a very solid product. This one, like all Singer models, is excellent.

I’ve been using singer machines since school days. I hadn’t done so for quite a while so bought this with trepidation. However it’s been an absolute joy so far. I was a little apprehensive because other reviews kept emphasising its speed, but it just takes a little practice to harness both its potential snd whatever speed you can cope with. Overall love it!

Took a little while to understand how to thread and several attempts at inserting the bobbin but SOOO worth it! Lovely straight stitching on both sides. I recommend size 3 stitch, but others may prefer a size 2. Had 3 different machines from another well known brand but this seems far superior. Glad I spent a little more. I’m not a professional seamstress but like to dabble with curtains, alterations and simple repair jobs. So far I’d highly recommend
