10 PORT USB HUB REVIEW
Works well with most usb powered devices, including lighting and usb charging. However, not all external hard drives will work if plugged in to this device as they will not be recognised. If this happens, unplug the hard drive and plug it back in again and it will usually work. If not, you will need to to plug it directly into the usb port on your device. The same process may be needed when connecting usb SSD drives.

An unusual hub - but a real winner
First off - I actually bought and paid for this product - it's not a paid review. The principal reason for choosing this hub was the 4 switches. With security in mind I have my 2 external hard-drives paired with matching backups. I was hoping that being able to switch off a port would mean less plugging/unplugging when making copies - and I am delighted to say that this has been well proven by experience. I can now keep all the drives physically connected, but the backup drives switched off until needed - they cannot be infected if I get hit by an external attack. I was concerned at first that all it would do was switch off the power supply, and potentially leave the drives data-connected. That does not seem to be the case as Windows does not recognise a drive when the switch is 'off'. Also NOTE carefully that you should dismount or eject a drive BEFORE switching it off (otherwise the cache may not be flushed). I have tested the hub with all four drives running at the same time and have had no problems with significant slowdown. No data has been dropped and no mysterious disconnections either. This is the most USB-3 compatible of all the hubs I have encountered. Having power and data cables emerge at one end is a plus, as it leaves the 5th (Power only) connector clear and accessible at the other end. I have only used this charging port once but it seems to be able to charge my Samsung smartphone without problem. I don't know how high the max current is so cannot comment on suitability for charging larger items such as tablets. I believe in stating the negative as well however - The blue lights are rather strong and tend to 'bleed' across the unit. Sometimes you have to take care to check the light is really ON for a particular port. Also beware of accidentally pressing the switch if trying to pull out a reluctant connector! The cable is extremely thick (proper USB-3 standard) and unless you anchor the hub somehow it can be swung about by the stiffness of the cable. The cable is also quite short by comparison with some other hubs - but for the price I am NOT complaining! The build quality is excellent. It is plastic, but well manufactured. Everything about it feels high-quality. All the connectors have a good positive feel to them. My overall rating is a firm FIVE stars. Highly Recommended.

Pretty good
Not a bad bit of kit. I thought I'd try using one of these because my USB games controller was running slow. I was advised to use one of these as my USB socket wasn't pushing out enough power on my laptop. Easy to set up and there are no issues to report. I am very happy with it's performance and my games controller is running as it should. I used some cable ties to keep it still and it has a power point for my phone to charge. We'll happy

... was v v worried about that- im not overly good with PCs
WOW no instructions - was v v worried about that- im not overly good with PCs........i neednt have worried as it was so EASY to assemble and begin to use. 3 pin UK plug for power . It set itself up and was working in 4 minutes. The main box is of superior quality plastic with a shiny surface. It holds 5 USB , one of which is a charger for whatever you want and glows RED when charging. The LED lights of the on off buttons is bright blue and for me its fab - i can see it is working and i can turn them on or off at will. The wires are quality leads as are the ends of power pack and USB to PC . The use is perfect- no need for drivers it just is ON when you have finished plugging in. Each piece of equipment has its own button for on and off. The on is a simple press and the off is a prolonged press until it goes off. I now know all my bits are turned off at the end of the day by the lights. This is a top quality, superior piece of equipment and whilst its not the most expensive its mid range for cost effective excellence. It feels and looks quality and i for one cant thank Atolla enough. I would highly recommend this piece of techno kit and the light is definitely NOT a problem as some have complained its bright. WOW :-)

HIgh performance with the brilliant feature of on/off switches on each port - and a charging port too
Fantastic USB 3.0 hub - with the killer feature of being able to switch off devices by pushing the button next to the socket. This is what made it a "no-brainer" for me. I have a video camera dongle plugged into this; it is powered by the USB. All too often I used to leave it switched on for days, which did it no good at all as it got quite warm; hot even. So now I can just switch it off by pushing the button next to the socket, the light goes off and no more overheating (very expensive) video dongle. It's a pity it doesn't automatically switch off ports that have nothing plugged into them (or at the end of the cable). The speed is absolutely top notch. I have an SSD also USB 3.0 connected to my PC via this device. The speed when copying from one fast device to another via this hub is excellent. It comes with a USB 3.0 extension cable too, but I can't help wonder why they just didn't make the original cable a bit longer. Perhaps they were trying to keep cable clutter to a minimum when placed close to a PC. A final more-useful-than-you-might-think feature is the front charging-only port that allows high current charging and I use it for my phone all the time.

Multiple USB devices, powered, connecting to TV - Great!
I've got a 1Gig Cat6 to USB adapter and a 2Tb SSD in an external caddy connected to mine, then connecting to a TCL TV (only one decent USB port on the side) works a treat, saves switching connections if the devices themselves - and there's 2 more ports if I want to connect any more external drives - winner
