Is the height of the mouse less than 3 inches/7.6 cm so that it'll fit between my sliding keyboard tray and the bottom of my desktop?

It's just 3 inches, it may be a tight squeeze. And I've found, over the past 3 years, buying 3 of these for myself and my husband, that your middle finger on your right hand starts to hurt if you use it too long. I use mine like 10 hours a day. If you're not using yours that much you'll be ok. As far as height, might try it...if it's not good, send it back and get your refund. :) Hope this helps.
