I came here looking for a new network card compatible with ESXi7. I purchased the "EXPI9301CT (1x RJ45 Port) Compatible" option and I can confirm that it is working with a stand-alone ESXi 7.0 U3 running in my homelab. For context, the hardware is a Dell G5 5000 Desktop repurposed for virtualization. Whats important is that I installed this NIC into an available PCIe slot and upgraded via a bootable USB/ISO to 7.0 and the Network interface was automatically picked up and the upgrade from 6.7U3 to 7.0.0 was simple and successful. I later performed an update via zip archive to the latest build (7.0U3) and it also went smoothly. I'm confident you could start by upgrading to the newest build, but that's just not how I ended up doing it.
