Great expansion
As always, I only have priases for this game. Though some of the haunts fell flat for our group, I understand some of the decisions that were made when they wrote this. Also, biggest complaint from our regular players: " In what MADNESS did you guys get anita sarkeesian as one of the authors?!" It was a terrible haunt as well, the huant literally tells you that the traiter can only win when the heros win, guess what our traiter did, he told all the heros how to beat him so we all win. I';m sorry, but that was such a dumb haunt. And there were no rules for the traitor not to say that? We are huge HUGE fans of BAHOH, but even we were judging the team that did R&D and play tests on a lot of these haunts. What were you guys thinking? We even thought of different scenerios where the game play is balanced, and there is no way in hell that in any situation that some of them will be. It's still a really enjoyable game mind you, and I'm still giving it a 5-star, because this idea for a boardgame is truly amazing. Unfortunately, it's ruined by terrible guest authors (*cough* anita sarkeesian*cough*) and poorly playtested haunts. Come on you guys, the editor is the R&D for D&D right? You guys can do so much better than this.

A refreshing addition to an already great game
Me and my friends love Betrayal at house on the Hill. The variety of scenarios, modular board, and events is so fun and has so much replay value. We've played the game nearly to death over the last 5 years. If i had a problem with the game it would have been the lack of items and events as after awhile you have seen and heard them all as the deck for them is honestly a tad small for a board game of this nature. This expansion is exactly what was needed as it adds more events, items, modular board pieces, another level to the house, and scenarios. It breathed new life into the game for us and make it so exciting to play again expanding on the variety of the cards and tiles. Would recommend to any fans of the original game.

Great game, but we're gonna need a bigger table
I love the new expansion. More rooms, fantastic new haunts, interesting omens. The new mechanic of dumb-waiters is also really useful for anyone on a 5-6 room path away from the landings. The character tokens are also useful for remembering which room buffs we've already received. Though, they are very easily lost being so small. One of my favorite new cards is the "What year is it?" event card that causes either side to read the flavor text, thus giving the other side some advantage during the haunt. Of the new omens, box is the most amusing, cat is one of the most powerful. The only downside is I may have to invest in a bigger table in order to play with a full group. The original game just barely fit on the table with all rooms played.

Replayable and its always exciting play.
Not going to lie, if you have the Betrayal at House on The Hill core set, why are you reading this just get it already! Those that never played the game before..... Do you like playing Clue? Do you like B rated horror films? Love strategy games that provide random game stories? The do I have a game for you!!! Yes, it does have several little pieces but nothing a sandwich bad cannot handle. After you grasp how to play, you will not want to stop. I always try to get company to play when we have time. If I had to say anything about it that I would wish were different, its that the "attic" cards had more attic only ones and the new mechanic to travel to any floor . It personally made exploring slightly more challenging and easy all at the same time. Overall I will still be getting any and all expansions they release!

Fantastic Family Game
I had played the D&D branded version of this game, and bought the game on sale at a brick and mortar over the holidays for my family to have something to play. We have all really enjoyed it enough that I bought this expansion pack. The replayability is very high with the ever changing game board and different scenarios. It causes way fewer fights than Monopoly and generally a game lasts an hour, which is the exact right amount of time in my opinion.

An amazing game, not well playtested.
This is one of the best board games ever made. In concept. It's fantastic for new players because it starts cooperative, so you can help them out, and the rules are very straightforward, despite being basically a GMless tabletop roleplaying game in a box. Then you get a traitor, and the game totally changes, becoming competitive. It makes the whole thing tense. You worry when someone else gets good items because they might turn on you. Statistically, they won't, so you want to help everyone... but mostly yourself. But you worry. And the joy when you get into playing your role is high. The only problem with the game is: many of the haunts are unbalanced and poorly-written. They will sometimes give you very unclear instructions. Sometimes they'll even rely on you knowing things that only the other side knows, and isn't supposed to share. It can ruin the fun totally when you have to stop and pour over their crappy, imprecise wording. This is even worse in the expansion, but still very present in the base game. And it kinda defeats the purpose of the game if you need a dang arbiter to play it. At that point, I'll just run Call of Cthulhu. And then there's the fact that sometimes one side has a clear advantage, for no real reason. Games have an average length of pre-haunt time. Sometimes you'll hit the haunt quickly and the heroes will be underpowered; sometimes it'll take an hour and everyone will be a one-person SWAT team. In the former case, the traitor almost always has a clear advantage. In the latter case, the heroes do. But even when you're at average power levels, some haunts are just damn near impossible for one side or the other to win, due to poor playtesting. With better playtesting, the many ambiguities in haunt rules and the fewer but still extant balancing issues should have and would have been caught. And it's a damn shame they're left as blights on one of the best games ever.

50 New Haunts, 20 New Rooms, New Floor (Roof), More Items / Omens / Events... Excellent Expansion
Awesome Expansion. The replayability in this game comes from the number of haunts- with this expansion now up to 100 possible scenarios that change the game, never play the same game twice. The betrayer and survivors do not know each others objectives. 20 new room tiles, and a new floor - the roof - also a handful of new item, omen and event cards. A few new game mechanics but easy enough to learn. Some rooms now have a dumbwaiter - spend 2 movement to get to a landing on a floor just above or below your current floor. For those rooms with once-per-game abilities, there are now a number or tokens for each character to leave behind and keep track of which ones are complete, no more just having to remember if you used that rooms ability or not. I found some of the new rooms pretty clever- for example the Laundry: "If you end your turn here, you may discard an item card and draw an item card from the discard pile." Or the Arsenal: "Draw 2 item cards, choose 1 and discard the other." Excellent price point at only 20$ currently - (in a world where the Mansions of Madness expansions are 70$!!) In short, this expansion adds plenty to the game without unnecessary complexity. 50 new haunts, new rooms to explore, new options while fleeing in terror from the traitor and the horrors of the house on the hill - can't go wrong.

Buy it.
Buy the original game and then buy this expansion pack. Don’t think about it, just do it. This is our most favorite of all board games. It’s always different because you build the board as you go, with the expansion you have 100 different haunts, and even if you get the same haunt doesn’t mean the game will play out the same. This game saved our lives during quarantine and we still play it all the time. Buy it. Trust me.

Great addition to the game
I love the addition of the roof and new rooms, omens, and items. The small characters tokens to add to rooms that have already added to a character's stats are helpful. The dumbwaiters are a great addition. It would have been cool to have some new characters as well but I can understand how that might mess up the dynamics. We found one of the haunts unplayable (Haunt 84 wtf?) but the others so far have been a blast. It's a very fun game. Highly recommended for enthusiasts.

Ottima espansione di un ottimo gioco
Se vi è piaciuto il gioco originale di Betrayal at House on the Hill è consigliato l'acquisto di questa espansione, che aggiunge nuove avventure e soprattutto molte nuove stanze e oggetti.

Affordable expansion that doubles the haunts and game scenarios.
Double the fun with an additional half of the original price. Some haunts are good, some are a bit complicated, but you are able to choose if you wish not to play any haunt. Box seems too big for its contents, wasting logistical resources and materials.
