The cable work like intended. • You can use it to charge the PSP through either the small USB-B port (if the setting is available in your PSP model) or via the AC plug port. (Just a note: you can plug both, but the PSP will only charge through either 1 of those. It doesn't charge faster if both are plugged due to a security measure installed in the PSP to avoid overcharging its battery. It will prioritize the AC adapter over the USB-B port for charging.) • You can use the small USB-B port for doing data exchange between the PSP and a PC or use it to charge any other USB-B type devices (like a PS3 controllers). If you plug both the AC and USB-B cable in the PSP, you can charge it and exchange data at the same time. (If you do that, I recommend turning off the USB Charging setting in the system settings of your PSP to avoid false-switch from happening.) • It's possible to charge 2 devices at once with both the AC and USB-B ends of the cable, but the charging speed isn't exactly stable and 1 device might get a lot more power than the other. The cable doesn't really have any kind of advanced technology in terms of power divergence/convergence. The AC and USB-B ends are basically "linked" to separate pins on the USB-A's 4 pins end. The USB-A has 2 data pins and 2 charging pins, meaning that the AC is linked to 1 charging pin while the USB-B end is attached to the 3 others pins (1 for charging, 1 for incoming and 1 for outgoing data exchanges.) This also means that this cable will charge slower than a single-ended USB-B or AC to USB-A cable if the USB-A charging port doesn't allow full charge capacity through a single pin such as most USB-A 1.0 and 1.5 charging port as well as some USB-A 2.0 ports. USB-A 2.2 and USB-A 3.X (blue) ports usually allow full charge on a single pin if the device can take it. A WARNING TO ANY PSP USERS (or even those who want to charge any USB-B devices)!!!: This bring me to a last point to anyone who purchase this cable. Make sure to NEVER plug this cable in ANY USB-A port that allow an higher charge rate than 5V@2A! For example, DO NOT PLUG this cable (and your PSP) in a laptop or fast-charging AC USB plug that has an higher charge rate! Read the small inscriptions on your USB to AC adapter to see the charging rate. Also, if the USB port is either red, orange or green, DO NOT USE THAT USB PORT!!! (Those are color for higher charge rating like used for laptops or other high-energy demanding devices!) The official charging rate of the AC cable furnished originally with the PSP is rated at [email protected] and the PSP internal electrical component (pass the battery) has resistors for up to [email protected]. The PSP also uses its battery as a resistor (you can't use the PSP without a battery even if it's plugged into the AC or USB-B) so that means that if the charging capacity of the AC or USB-B exceed the battery capacity and the battery fails to act as the resistor, not only could the battery bulb up (and even melt/explode if left for an extended amount of time), but it would brick your PSP right away as soon as the charge pass through it. As most PSP users should have replaced their PSP battery by this time (since SONY stopped the official manufacturing of its PSP battery models in 2014-2015 and those are rated to last up to 10 years at most), you should read the charging rate on the stick/print on your PSP battery (or if it's not written on the battery itself and it came with a charger, look up on the charger's info sticker.) Most PSP off-brand batteries sold on Amazon, today, can be charged with a rate between 5V@2A (or [email protected]) and some higher capacity ones can reach a charge rate of 5V@3A. Read the information on the battery (or the charger if available) and make sure you USB-A to AC adapter (the wall outlet adapter) doesn't exceed that value.

Works great! The data cable works better as a data cable than a charger but the charger portion works perfectly! This was a great buy.

A quality cable that works as described. I've used them for both charging and data transfers with my PSP 1001 and have had no problems at all.

Glad that I came across this particular item. Very handy as it doubles as a charging cable and for USB connectivity. I also forgot that I was getting two cables instead of one, so this is an added bonus. I can leave one cable at home and pack the other on the go along with my PSP and other accessories.
