I have fine, thin hair. Especially since I developed a digestive ailment years ago, I shed like a madwoman. I began my quest to find a reliable hair supplement about 4 years ago and have used multiple treatments since that time.Hair, skin, and nail supplements do help, however my skin becomes so oily I can't stand it. It's disgusting.I tried a liquid Viviscal knock off that was too annoying to keep up with since I had to mix it up into a beverage and drink it quickly.Pure biotin supplements help my hair, but again, my skin becomes scarily oily as a result. Ewwwww.Yaddi yaddi yadda, I decided to try this supplement a few months ago. I have no idea if it has helped with my hair much, but I figure it must be if my fingernails are a gauge of anything. My hair is still shedding quite heavily, which disgusts me, but I am not balding yet. My skin does not get more oily than what's natural with this supplement. Thank goodness.My nails are the one area where something visible and unusual is going on. I don't know if it's a result of this supplement or if my health took an unnoticed crash months ago, but my nails have a very clear and distinct area, every single one of my fingernails, where you can see that they began growing in much thicker than they had been. My entire life, my nails have been strong and long with no effort on my part. It's just genetics. So the fact that they are now growing in EVEN thicker is amazing. They look like acrylics, almost. So, it's possible that whatever supplement I was on previous to this one wasn't helping all that much, and this one helped to restore my nails to their healthy pre-digestive-illness glory. Who's to say?P.S. - I am NOT referring to Beau's lines on my nails. It is not that, it's nothing where I injured the nail bed, etc etc. They are simply coming in thicker. No, it's not fungus. They literally appear extremely healthy, the way they used to look when I was a healthy kid.Oh, those were the days.

I bought because my hair was falling out. I was taking this with biotin. I started them at the same time. I started to notice less hair was falling out within a month of starting both the biotin and silica. I did stop taking the silica because I just forgot to take them. After stopping the silica and continuing the biotin, I still wasn't losing as much hair as before. Not sure if it was the silica or the biotin that was helping. I will say the silica is kind of difficult to swallow. I can take 8 pills at a time but struggle just taking the 2 silica together. Taking them together they always seem to get stuck going down and I have to drink a ton of water to get the down.

After talking to a friend about my knee pain, she told me a story about how she'd suffered with knee pain for several years during her early 20's oftentimes having to rely on crutches to get around. I went home and took two capsules that evening. My knee stopped hurting within the first 20 hours. I was shocked and decided to give two to my husband who was also suffering with knee pain. He also got almost immediate relief. The pain did come back after 20 hours and I took two more. I can't dismiss the possibility of a placebo effect although I was very skeptical that it would do anything at all. The simple pain relief gives me the ability to gently exercise my knees in an effort to rebuild their strength and flexibility as I work towards healing.There isn't a lot of substantial research that I could find documenting the effects of taking a silica supplement that I could find on the internet. I did learn that some people have problems with horsetail-based products. The Solgar Silica helped us to get back on our feet without surgery. It's definitely something to consider based on our anecdotal results. Hope this helps...

I think it’s a good quality products. Probably the best in the market.

I try to take one of these daily, but too often I gag on them. Very unpleasant. I take it before my medication, just in case. I don't eat anything soft enough to help me get them down, I take them with water.I've taken supplements of all kinds before, all my life - but never anything quite as large as these. I don't see why they don't just make 2 reasonably sized capsules with the contents of one.

I originally bought this product because I heard that silica might help me with my thinning hair and nails. It's hard to tell yet if its working for my hair, but I do notice that my eyelashes are longer and fuller. It's very noticeable to me because I never really had any eyelashes. They were always light and short. Hoping for the same results on my head.Now my nails have been a problem for the last three years. Ever since I removed my gel nails ,my nails have been very weak. It took almost two years to get them back in shape and even then they were thin. The nails on my middle finger were always peeling, even after three years. I can honestly say that after a 3 months of taking Solgar that my middle finger nails are no longer split. The last of the peeling nail just grew out and it's not peeling anymore. I still have a problem with a split nail on my left baby finger but it's growing a lot better than it use to. All of my other nails are thicker and stronger now. These problems all started with those darn gel nails. They look so pretty but if you decide to use them, use them only for special occasions. I had mine on for months, almost a year and it really damaged the underlying nail bed. My baby finger especially. The nail looks misshapen and that's why it keeps splitting.But the good news is that with Solgar I have been able to correct my nail problems and am hoping for some good results with my thinning hair. Keeping my fingers crossed. Will update if I see any drastic improvement on that front.Forgot to mention that I am on my second bottle and do take 2 a day as directed.

Silica is the Forgotten Nutrient which is not only good for the bones, skin, hair and nails but I after researching about silica for a very long time now I believe Silica helps in reducing internal inflammation which is the cause of so many degenerative diseases! All of Ayurvedic Herbs and medicines are ground on stone to add Silica which make them effective.

I've tried a few different silica capsules and these are the best by far. My nails are much stronger and no more dry hair.

I have been taking this now for a month at least. I have found that my hair has grown, my nails are tough and my skin is soft. Everything it says it does it has worked for me
