After figuring out I need to shorten the rod it was super easy to put together and works great. Seems to be holding up great!

For the money the lock could be better made. The older versions are made different which makes them easier to put together. I added a padlock because I think it would be easy to pop these open

would be 5 stars but taking off one star. as others have said almost impossible to break the metal spindle piece where you want with pliers.

If you’re trying to instal this you better have strong hands or a grinder to cut the metal piece because the metal is too thick to snap with 2 pair of pliers like the directions say to use. Ive been trying for two days to snap the metal piece with my pliers. My left hand is actually bruised from following the directions with the pliers - not anyones fault but it’s not an easy install like one would think. I easily installed the handle prior to this one that lasted 17 years. Just so you know you will need help or tools that will cut or file metal.

This inexpensive screen door latch with keyed lock was easy to install on my screen door. If bought for a new screen door you may need a drill and a 1/8 inch drill bit to create a screw hole, or holes, for the installation. A Phillips or cross screw head driver is needed for the machine screws, metal screw, and wood screws used in the installation. Some kind of marker pencil or pen is also handy to mark the locations of the holes needing drilled. Spacers are provided to get the best fit between the latch and latch detent that is affixed to the door jamb opposite the latch. You may need two pairs of pliers to resize the steel bar that connects the outer and inner parts of the latch. The bar's length needs to be adjusted to match the width of the screen door. A small rotory tool with a cut off blade would also work instead of the two pliers.

it's straight forward, easy to install and does what it says.i'm disappointed in the flimsiness of the key insert piece. It wasn't attached to handle and when inserted it doesn't lock in place or anythig so it's very loose within the handle socket. when i put in key it's jiggling around. Alot.

I rated 4 stars for one flaw that I've found when installing. The included spring for key latch is weak, leaving a lot of play in the button when you use key to unlock. It wiggles, but stays does stay locked.
