iFixit Anti-Static Wrist Strap (Adjustable up to Size XL) - ESD Grounding Wristband

I've found a perfect solution for my treadmill static problem with the iFixit Anti-Static Wrist Strap. While designed for electronics repair, I've repurposed it for my needs. I attached the adjustable elastic band to my treadmill's metal frame and I attach the metal clip to my shorts while using the treadmill. It works great! Before this fix, static electricity made touching my treadmill a shocking experience. Now, the problem is almost completely eliminated! The 6-foot coiled cord gives me plenty of freedom while running. It seems well constructed so I'm hoping this lasts a long time. And even if it doesn't, it's an affordable strap. For anyone facing static issues with exercise equipment, this affordable strap is an unexpected but effective solution. It's such a simple fix that's made my workouts much more enjoyable. Highly recommended for this unconventional but practical use!

Yes and no. The product works however I need a longer cord because the cord often pops out of the alligator socket thing and it’s very frustrating. If you’re hunched over and don’t move it’s great if you reach for anything with the arm band hand there’s little room.

Works well. No static discharge. Seems to be well made and I didn't notice any malformation after putting it on and taking off several times over a few days.

I bought it for the elastic band which is easier to put on than the too short plastic band type with velcro closure which is included with so many esd mats. Also bought these for our company's electronics lab/ employees.

Some people say you don't "need" it. That may be true but I also don't think it's such a bad idea to be safe rather than sorry especially for such a low cost. I am an avg user who likes to do his own work when needed. I wasn't about to go out and spend $70+ on an anti static mat when I'd likely only need to pull it out once every cpl of years or so. I also know I'm the type of person who gets so caught up into what I'm focusing on that I'd forget to ground myself every so often. For the minimal cost of this thing it was an easy purchase just for the piece of mind. I'm a pretty avg size guy with rather think legs from sports and this was still able to fit my ankle quite comfortably. The cable is long enough to attach to a ground location and still offer plenty of room to move. I can't comment on the durability of it because I've only just got it and only used it in action once. For $10 and how little I plan to actually use it though I can't imagine this will wear out anytime soon. I think it's worth it.
