Excellent - how these performances always should have sounded
Excellent remaster/reissue. The sound quality problems of the original 1997 version have been addressed and then some - no more boosted, brittle high end, and no more anemic bass. This new release has better frequency balance, and also better clarity and instrumental separation, particularly around Bonham's drums (the snare and cymbals have never sounded this good, even on some of the highly regarded bootlegs). The 1969 tracks are noticeably improved, and the 1971 tracks are massively improved. My only disappointment is that the newly added bonus tracks are all grouped on Disc 3. It would've been great if Jimmy Page had taken the same "reimagined & expanded" approach as he did to the redone 2007 version of The Song Remains the Same - he could have put these BBC tracks in their original session order. However, I understand why he did it this way - reordering the tracks would've required very awkward splits in the various sessions, or else would have required 4 CDs (and who knows how many LPs) instead of 3. Overall, I'm thrilled to finally be able to hear the Zep BBC tracks in the sound quality they always should have had - and many of the bonus tracks are real gems too. (The final three, sourced from shortwave radio recordings, sound awful, but it's good to have them for posterity, and they're stuck at the very end so you don't have to listen to them.)

A Terrific Melding of Rock and Blues Music
This music collection that is Led Zeppelin The Complete BBC Sessions has an abundant amount of live studio sounding tracks that include some of their well known songs: Heartbreaker, A Whote Lotta Love, Black Dog, Stairway to Heaven, etc. There are also some other multiple songs that are very memorable to listen to in this collection that include: You Shook Me, What is and What Should Never Be, I Can’t Quit You Baby, Going to California, The Girl I Love She Got Long Wavy Black Hair, Sunshine Woman, How Many More Times etc. I admit that I obtained the opportunity to purchase track 5 of this music collection via Amazon by the July 14 2019 timeframe and I obtained the opportunity to purchase the rest of this enjoyable music collection at a later timeframe via an online amazon gift card gifted to my husband and I from my mother in law. This is a good music collection to listen for eclectic music listeners who are receptive to hearing live sounding music coupled with rock and blues/soul music melodies.

A worthy addition to Zep's collection!
A worthy addition to anyone loving Led Zeppelin or enjoying great good classic rock. This is must addition to anyone collecting Zep's music, the third music and the audio mix for the whole set make it worth the purchase. Zep at their prime, the live quality of this one is hard to top, amazing to hear the four "virtuosos" in action on this live recordings. Only reason of not having a five star is that if you have the previous BBC Sessions CD you might not like to have two CD's of many of the same songs, unless you are a die hard fan. For first acquisition though, completely commendable and enjoyable!

Un triple CD donde se recopilan en directo las mejores canciones de la primera época de Led Zeppelin, con buen sonido y una buena presentación con fotos y texto en blanco y negro que nos traslada en el tiempo a los 60 y 70. Una verdadera joya.

What is it about Led Zeppelin that makes normally sane rock fans seemingly lose all sense of perspective? Yes I know they are one of the greatest bands to have walked this earth, but other equally great bands such as the Stones and Floyd don't seem to get us quite as excited about their re-issues. Over the past couple of years we have happily purchased the remastered re-issues despite the remastering on a few of the album's hardly making night and day difference, and the extras, apart from the odd few, not exactly making us feel we'd missed a lot and yet we quite happily went on buying them. When this re-issue was announced I initially said 'hold on, wait and see if the remastering and extras are worth the spend', but immediately there was a little voice in my head saying 'But it's Zeppelin' and I of course immediately caved in and ordered it, after all the voice was right, it's Zeppelin. So do I blame the voice or thank it? Firstly I always liked this album, it was an excellent late addition to the Zeppelin catalogue, part live recording part studio, it presented the band when they were still a hungry young band blasting out their brand of electric blues and acoustic folk. One of the pleasant surprise was hearing the intro to Stairway without screams from the audience, IV had yet to be released. Yes, many of the songs were repeated, but this was Zeppelin, they knew how to cut loose and there are enough differences between the different versions of the songs to ensure they remain interesting. Added to that there were three previously unreleased covers and we had a genuinely interesting new album and not just some kind of cash in. So what about this new version? Firstly the remastering, some on here have said they can't hear the difference between this issue and the original. I have to disagree, the difference is quite clear, and as I said earlier I struggled to hear a difference on some of last year's re-issues. Here the roughness has been smoothed out, which may not appeal to everyone, and it is quieter and Bonham's cymbals have an extra zing to them. That brings us to the extras, 50 minutes of them. Are they essential, probably not, are they interesting, to some of us yes, are they enjoyable, well of course. The last three tracks had the original tapes disappear so these are recordings taken from a radio recording, remember sitting there with a tape deck microphone next to your speaker diligently trying to record your favourite songs off the radio, well that is what these three tracks sound like and no amount of Page pixie dust can hide the fact, they still make for an interesting listen though. So, to answer my own earlier question, I thank the voice for convincing me to buy this re-issue, I'm really enjoying listening to these recordings again. If you have never bought this album before I recommend this version, if, on the other hand you are wondering whether or not to replace your old copy I would suggest you do, go on you know you want to, after all, it's Zeppelin.
