Would this work as an attachment for a shower?

Yes, this hose connector is very suitable for use in the bathroom. It can effectively prevent water leakage from rust and cracking of the faucet. It is suitable for faucets with a maximum width of 30mm and a height of 40mm.

Is the diameter of this connector suitable for a universal inlet for a washing machine?

I have no idea as I just use it on a kitchen tap where it works fine.

Does it fit to Dishwasher inlet?

Unlikely this would fit a dishwasher inlet...bulky and difficult to attach in tight spaces..

What are the black rubber bits for? Mine fits tap but water sprays everywhere

Black parts are rubbers washers. I took out the one that goes on the top of the Tao and left just the one that goes under. When fitting it, try to push the top part of the connector a bit more ahead, needs to be tightened VERY well. I had to do this like 5-6 times until I figured out the right position.
