I’ll begin by saying that I mostly drink black tea and am new to oolongs. My experience with them so far has consisted of a handful of tie guan yins, that dark oolong served in American Chinese restaurants, and a crappy fruit flavoured one. So I’m not an oolong expert. Having said that, I really enjoyed this Darjeeling take on oolong and think it’s a very interesting tea. I don’t agree with the reviews that say it’s more like a black tea than an oolong. The dry leaf is darker leaves mostly but also lighter hues including some that are rather green. I don’t know it’s exact oxidation but it’s clearly less than most black teas. It IS more like some Darjeelings (because it is one…) but it still struck me as different. In particular, I preferred this oolong to both Vahdams spring and summer Darjeeling, though it should be noted I’ve only had the teabag versions of those. Despite the darker dry leaves, Vahdam recommends brewing this tea from 175-194 F and I agree. I felt this tea was boring and muddled when brewed with boiling water and still undistinguished at 205. I’d even say aim for the lower end. I like it best around 185, but also liked it at 175. So treat it more like a green tea than a black tea, or at least like a greener Darjeeling, for the best results. When brewed the aroma is an appealing melange of grass, dried fruit, and cocoa. There are occasional hints of the muscatel notes of some second flush Darjeelings. The flavour is mellow, earthy, and fruity, with hints of fig and a variable level of cocoaness. The lower the brewing temp the more fruity, with more coca and earthiness emerging with higher brewing temps. There is a pleasant light astringency and a bit of citrus in the finish. I don’t recommend adding milk or sweetening as most of the flavours are subtle. The tea resteeps pretty well, particularly when the initial brew is cooler. I found the second steeps to be lighter, more vegetal and grassy but still enjoyable. I liked this tea and would recommend it to black tea drinkers who want to branch out some and to Darjeeling fans. As for serious oolong drinkers, those who know the ins and outs of Wuyi tea or Taiwanese high mountain oolongs, I don’t know. Your art is a strange one I hope to learn. At the least, an Indian oolong is fairly rare and might be worth a look.

I've recently acquired a taste for Oolong tea. I also drink a selection of black and herbal teas frequently. This just simply isn't Oolong. perhaps it is cultivated or prepared in some Oolong fashion, but it's not Oolong when all is said and done and it's in your cup. When I smell the dry tea leaves, I don't get much of that Oolong aroma, but I could detect the scent of black tea. It's not a strong as a typical black tea, but that is the dominant fragrance. Also, the tea leaves are in such small pieces. After steeping, it is apparent that they are chopped or torn up pretty badly. One of the signature traits of premium Oolong is that the leaves are kept whole and rolled or "furled" during the drying process. It's this that allows them to often be infused multiple times. Immediately after the steep, there are some subtle Oolong fragrances going, but they fade away fast and all that remains is that of black tea. The taste is not bad at all, but it is just missing the subtle flavors of Oolong and just tastes like a really smooth and clean finished black tea. There is nothing bad about it, but it's simply not Oolong. Not in practice, not in fragrance, and not in taste. Take that how you will. It is, however, a decent quality tea and would be better received if they would just call it Darjeeling and be done with it. I have given it three stars mainly for that reason. Edit and Update: After a few more times to enjoy this tea, I can say that it is quite good. So I guess if this is the Oolong processing methods applied to very good Indian tea and the result is excellent. Maybe not the exact tradition that it was named for, but something great nonetheless. Moving it up to 5 stars as this tea was a gateway to finding some other really good VAHDAM teas.

This is my first time trying Oolong tea and I was really impressed with the taste of this. I found that the quality and freshness was good, got here fast. Since it’s my first time trying I can’t really compare to others I tasted but since I do like the taste I’ll more than likely being buy it again from this company. Tea containing both caffeine and theanine increased alertness and attention within the first 1–2 hours after consumption and there is a study found that regular tea drinkers had up to a 64% lower risk of brain function decline, this study was more focused on Oolong tea drinkers and with me being a full time psychology student I needed something to boost my focus which is what led me to buy the Oolong tea, I had no idea this was also good for aiding in weightloss even though it says that in the description I was just more focused on finding good quality Oolong tea lol after doing some research on the weightloss part I found that scientists believe that some of the polyphenols in oolong tea may boost metabolism and decrease the amount of fat absorbed from your diet so that’s definitely a benefit for getting this tea although I mainly wanted it to help me focus more. After having a cup I did feel more alert and some energy after dragging this morning from not getting enough sleep so we shall see how it goes when I bring a cup with me to class this afternoon.

By now I have finished this box of tea, being a high mountain oolong. It was lighter and some other teas but perfect for a later evening drink

I'm a tea aficionado. I have traveled through China, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore and experienced different teas there. I brought home $100 of tea from Taiwan and had been working on that for a few years, and I finally ran out. So, it was time to order more tea. Rather than travel abroad, I decided to just buy more tea on Amazon. I've always known India had great tea, and I was curious to hear that an Indian company was offering Oolong tea grown at high altitude in India. There were surprisingly few loose leaf tea options from China and Taiwan on Amazon.com, so I decided to give Vahdam Teas a shot. Plus, I was curious how Oolong from the Indian climate would taste. The taste is hard to describe, but it's a beautiful blend of that nutty character you would expect from an Asian Oolong, with an Indian darjeeling twist. It's just such a unique taste --who would have imagined you could get Oolong from India! The packaging and quality are top notch. The package even includes detailed instructions on how to get the perfect brew (e.g. let steep for 5 minutes in 90-100C water). And the tea strength is great for this Oolong. I get 3-4 brews out of one teaspoon --I just leave it in my teacup and keep re-brewing it through the day. This tea company means business. Great product.

I've been a hot tea drinker for almost 60 years and have several favorites (in tea bags) but to my knowledge had never tried an Oolong tea. There is a scene in Season 1 Episode 1 of the TV series "Outlander" that stuck in my mind because Oolong tea was mentioned and I couldn't remember ever having had it. Then Oprah's Favorite Things list mentioned a Vahdam tumeric tea, so I checked Amazon and saw that Vahdam also makes an Oolong and ordered a package. My first Oolong and my first Vahdam tea! I LOVED it so much that I gulped through the first package and immediately re-ordered. I don't know if the difference is because loose leaf teas always taste better than teas in "diapers" (another reference for you "Outlander" fans) but this is my new favorite tea and in my top 3 all-time favorite teas. So, I put Vahdam English Breakfast tea on my Christmas wishlist and received a package and love it almost as much -- 2 very different teas but both delicious. Now my d-i-l has asked for Oprah's favorite tumeric tea for her birthday next month though in tea bags instead of loose leaf. I'm impatient to do a side-by-side comparison between Vahdam's loose leaf and bagged teas and am pretty sure that we are on our way to becoming a Vahdam Family!

First I should admit that I typically don't like Indian teas. I'm more of a Chinese or Indonesian black tea person. The tea seems very high quality, especially for the price. I drank this tea three ways. All steeped for about 2 1/2 mins using a tea infuser after heating water to around 190-195 degrees. The first steep was poured off, so this was the second steep. Drank hot soon after steeping: There's a funky aftertaste that almost made me not drink the tea again. I quickly got used to it. Drank warm about an hour after steeping: Very nice. Smooth. If I were someone who liked this profile, I definitely would be drawn to this tea. This is how I will drink the rest of the bag. Drank cold as iced tea: This is not a tea for iced tea. There's a minerality or herbaceousness that is pronounced. Not unpleasant but also not what I am looking for. As for the quality of Vahdam, I am impressed. Very good quality at a great price. Definitely will be trying other teas they may have.

Oolong tea from Vahdam is a wonderful mild and full bodied tea. I'm partial to the tea leaves than tea bags.

Es el primer té de Vahdam que tomo y me ha gustado como para repetir. Su color es como el de las fotos y su olor es agradable y enérgico a la vez, sin ser agresivo. Está bastante fresco y aparece su fecha de recogida de octubre 2017 y de expiración en octubre de 2020, aunque se me habrá acabado en unas semanas, porque está rico. Me huele a campos de tierra mojados y fragantes. Es un olor que persiste en la nariz, agradable ¿Olerá asi el Himalaya? Su presentación está cuidada al detalle. Viene aparte una etiqueta del té para ser pegada en la bolsa que envían con autocierre, una vez abres la que trae embalandolo y comienzas a utilizarlo. Todo ello pulcramente metido a su vez en una cajita contenedora de cartón. Un espléndido packaging que alimenta la sensacion de “ser cuidado” por la joven marca Vahdam. Tambien lleva un pequeño folleto doblado con consejos en la preparación de la infusión e información sobre los diferentes tipos de tés y como infusionarlos. Me alegro de haberme decidido a probarlo

I don't usually write reviews but will with this one, I'm enjoying it right now at this very moment as an iced tea. Put 8g in a 1 litre glass bottle with room temperature water then placed it in the fridge overnight the strained it into a glass as I usually do being summer here. It's absolutely delicious, smooth, plenty of flavour and colour. This is a first class tea which surprised me as I'm used to tie kuan yin which is a rolled leaf oolong, unless having a wuyi da hong pao or black chai. This tea is a broken leaf tea and is absolutely fantastic. First class. Haven't tried it hot, a favourite now as iced tea.
