Fantastic guide on android programming that takes you through some interesting and useful projects. This version also takes you through the setup and usage of the fantastic new IDE (Integrated Development Environment) Android Studio which supports Android 5 (Lollipop) onwards. If you're new to Java I would recommend buying the dummies guide on Java along with this book. This book focuses on Java programming for android and so assumes that the reader has a basic grasp of Java programming. Overall, fantastic book written in the incredibly readable style that we've come to expect from dummies guides. Could not recommend enough.
