It has a lot of standard sight words and other, easy, 3-4 letter words at kindergarten to first grade level. Some of the phrases repeat throughout the book which makes them easier to teach and rewarding for the kid when they get them right. Review: The first book my son ever read. And he loved it!!! - I really like these Penguin Young Readers. I open up a lot of the "Level 1" books, and I'm scratching my head, going, this is Level 1??? It seems like most comparable series contain lots of big words, and so many words per page that my son gets mentally exhausted after just a few pages. And somehow the story is still terrible! But these Penguin Young Readers are what I think of as a TRUE Level 1, for the kid who is just putting everything together and starting to read. It's such a great feeling for my little man to be able to read the whole book himself. And I've got to hand it to the author- they did a fantastic job putting together a cute, funny story with just a few simple words! This is the first book my son ever read all by himself, and it's probably my favorite out of this series. I also like the fact that this series has original stories, rather than just something canned about some cartoon characters that usually doesn't even have a story in there. I've already got about 4 of these Penguin Young Readers, and I'm going to go out and buy some more.

Gets kids to read.
My grandson thought this was so funny. Bought another book on the same day since he liked it so much. The series is definitely good to help start kids to read. I bought a pre/K book and then the other one for the pre-schooler.

Great for learning to read
We purchased these books to help my 3 and 4 year old begin to read. They're great, have big bold words and the books came in new condition. Will purchase more.

Cute book for learning to read
Great book for kindergarten level 1 learning to read. Pictures are cute and bright, size of font is large and book is simple with nice story! It is a thin paperback so not the most durable but it’s great for what it is.

Cute story and yummy pictures
My second grader has been a little shy to read aloud. We got this book as something easy and fun to get the ball rolling and it worked. It was fun for her to read and the ice cream cake looked good. We are thinking about making one of our own!

I have no idea why the seller is selling this book for 250+ rupies .. very low quality - hardly 10 pages.

Fun with words. Vocabulary is limited for beginner reader. My children love it. It’s funny and makes them giggle. I read it to the younger one a hundred times.

I purchased this for my daughter who is in grade one. They have been learning sight words and are beginning to read small books. This book is perfect for beginner readers. Repetition, sight words very easy sentences.

My 5 year old loves this book. I especially ordered this for her because she has started to read and what better way to get them reading. It's a good quality with nice pictures and story.
