If you can't install a window unit, get this portable AC unit
Bought this last summer as a just in case should our central air not be able to keep up with the heat, and our central air died this week and boy was I glad to have this. Out HOA doesn't allow windows units, and this was a well reviewed portable unit. Set it up in about 10 minutes following the clear instructions. They included everything I needed including some insulation strips. Only thing missing was some no residue duct tape to give an extra good seal around the window, but I had some lying around. The unit works great blowing out cold air fast and using the louvers to spread it around. The fan is loud, but certainly no louder than any other portable unit. It kept the bedroom a comfortable temperature even on the hottest of days, and downright chilly at night, just how I like it. I had to use a heavier blanket! While the product overall is great, I think LG could've included an insulated hose sleeve and cut to fit insulation for the window mount, maybe repurposong some of the packing materials for it. These are the two biggest sources of heat getting into a room using this, and that might have helped the unit cool the room down faster using less power. The smartphone app was so easy to use I didn't even touch the included remote control.

75 pounds worth of cooling power
Had to get an AC to tolerate heat this summer & opted for LG after conferring with friend who's worked in HVAC for 7 years. Solid unit. Was heavier than I expected, but does perform well (so far) Was lucky and there was no shipping damage apparent when I got this. Make sure to check the bottom drain and properly seat that rubber plug and gently tighten the screw assembly that snugs it into place before operation. Minor thing I've yet to sort is turning the condenser fan on. I get the ON as it says in the manual but when the appliance is powered off it shuts down instead of hearing a fan run. Will update review should things change or I notice excessive leaks or things negative reviews mention. Update: The 10 minute condenser fan setting comes on if you turn unit off by remote. Doing so on the control panel seems to shut down unit immediately, even with this feature on. It cools below the set point exceedingly well during the daytime; but at night seems to creep up above 70. It also seems to keep the rest of the apartment space from going superhot; despite not being open to the main floor most of the time. So far, I'd recommend this unit based on how solid it's performing. No indicator to empty tank yet; and do wish the access point for that was a bit more reachable. A removable tank would be ideal but I'm not sure if LG's engineers can accomplish such a feat.

Cools the room but super loud!
My room is super small like less than 150 sq ft. But I bought the 8000 BTU model of this cuz my room is upstairs, lacks insulation, and I live in a very hot state that goes up 120 degrees in its worst summer. Even this winter, it went up 92! It shipped fine. No signs of being dropped or man handled of by incompetent prime drivers. When I installed it, it cooled the room significantly. However it was way louder than the previous LG portable ac that broke which was an older model. I used a DB meter app, and it measured that the ac was making 60 db with the compressor kicked in... wtf. Way above the advertised db. So false advertising. Apparently these models are still using outdated compressors that are dodgy when it comes to noise. If you want portable ac's that are way quieter, look into the ones with inverters! Not these products or compressor versions. For 400 dollars, this is just unacceptable. But if you really need to get this cuz of price or sales whatever, invest in some sleeping ear muffs...

If Missing Pieces, Call LG.
I was missing the Vent slots to Install on window. I called LG and they were able to send me the missing pieces at no Extra cost. Other than that Air conditioner is Great!!!!! No Issues at all.

AC Works well but has other drawbacks
I got this as an additional AC unit because my central AC couldn't keep up with the soaring outside summer temperatures summers these days. It was very easy to set up and looks very modern and sleek as well. The actual AC air produced seems very cool and blows out powerfuly. Cools down my apartment well. However the unit is very loud. On the product page it says 49db, but I could not find a way for the AC to function with only 49db (maybe fan only?). When I measured it, the unit was producing 61db on LOW! That's very loud. When on high its even louder. Also when the compressor turns on or off the entire unit shakes and makes a very loud noise. And the app to control it is clunky and sometimes just doesn't work. For example when trying to manually set an up/down vent angle on the app it says "command failed on the product" and doesn't give any more information. However on the same app page you can enable the up/down vent swing and it works correctly. Also the remote and app fight each other and sometimes cancels out your selection. I'd recommend only using 1 of the 2. Also the filter management doesn't work as it resets itself back to 100% sometimes, so I'm not sure when I need to replace the air filter. So in summary, the actual AC functions well and will cool down your apartment nicely. However it is much louder than advertised and the app functions are clunky.

Solid portable AC
I bought one of the "budget" portable ACs which was rated such that it should have been able to handle my cooling task, but it couldn't do that and using it with the remote was an extreme hassle. I sent that one back and bought this one instead. I wanted a portable AC to cool my master bedroom at night because I like to sleep cool and it's extremely inefficient to cool my entire large house to 68° I love the Wi-Fi and scheduling feature; it's miles better than using the stupid remote. Installation was fairly easy but it was a little bit frustrating to install the thing. Also, I would strongly recommend sticking the foam to the window panel rather than the window itself because it made a huge mess of my window since I didn't have the foresight to do that. I have the fan set to high for the white noise while sleeping and make no mistake, it is quite loud on high. It dehumidifies very well, but I also live in a fairly dry climate to begin with, so I can't speak to how it handles a very damp client or how the condensation collection and draining is. Overall it has reduced my electric bill quite a bit since I run this for about 8 hours at night (at approximately 1 kW while the compressor is running) instead of the HVAC (about 4 kW).

Camping Lifesaver
We LOVED this on our camping trip! It was close to 100 degrees and we have a tent, I had tried the small water cooled ones, no help whatsoever! This made us so comfortable, the air was cold and crisp, super unit! The only disadvantage was trying to balance the air flow, it’s so strong, it was pulling our tent inside out lol. Quick fix, just open a zipper, things were fine. We had power at our site and it never tripped the breaker, it did trip the surge protector, that’s our fault tho. All in all, saved the days and the nights which would’ve been unbearable without it.

We love our AC
When we ordered it was sooo hot out but once delivered it had cooled down considerably which was strange weather for Vancouver in July! We had to wait for a hot day and it finally happened....so easy to use the remote. It's very quiet and it cooled us down quickly. This is one of the best things we've purchased and it can get as hot outside as it wants and we'll be comfortable, safe and cool in our home.
