Drawdio is an electronic pencil that lets you make music while you draw! It's great project for beginners: An easy soldering kit with instant gratification. Essentially, its a very simple musical synthesizer that uses the conductive properties of pencil graphite to create different sounds. The result is a fun toy that lets you draw musical instruments on any piece of paper. Runs on a single AAA battery for many hours (even 'nearly dead' batteries will work) Use any pencil - mechanical or plain. Unimpressed
Came with no instructions and came in a plastic bag. Bought as a gift, doesnt look very appealing

Fun gadget.
Would be 5 star except for 2 things... 1. There were no instructions for building. I had to go online and find some. They weren't for the exact same version of the product I had, but it got me by. 2. I would like to see a different method of connecting the circuit to the pencil lead. The tack works, but it's a bit hit-and-miss. (On the other hand, I haven't come up with anything better...)

Puzzling pencil
The components mount on a carpenter’s pencil, which is wide and flat. Ingenious! But the kit is shipped with just a regular pencil. I had to go out and buy a carpenter’s pencil before I could assemble it.

Improvments are needed for this kit!
The pencil that came with the kit was kind of "crappy" (it did not sharpen well) and there was not enough of the foil tape therefore the kit did not work well. I purchased a bigger carpenters pencil, a longer thumb tack and more foil tape and that worked a lot better....
