General Tools 843/1 Pencil Compass and Scriber, 8 Inch Diameter

Oh my, installed countertops for 20+ years. So I know how to use this gadget. It works.

These are great pocket compasses. They hold the pencil tight and are very compact, so you can put them in your pocket, tool belt, where ever. I lost my last 2 so I needed to get more. They aren't available locally anymore so I was glad to find them here.

Since the late 1960's while working for my father's company doing rough and finish carpentry, I have used these for scribing all types of trim, doors, etc. While these are very simple, they work great and are the best I've used. I've tried all types of new and "improved" scibers but I've always returned to these. Now that I no longer work in the field and am mostly a DIY'er I still keep them in my tool belt when I've got a project for my children or around my own house. Highly recommend.

Works fine but you can only use a round pencil

These are my go to scribe. I have tried quite a few different scribes over the years which are all similar but for the price and the product you just can’t beat it.

Had some finish trim that was very uneven on the ground. Used this scriber and followed the base of the gap and was able to fit the piece of trim in perfectly once it was cut. Great tool and super easy and simple to use.

It'll get the job done but it isn't the best quality and it'll take more than tightening the valve snug to keep it from moving while you scribe.

Doesn't tighten the pencil very well.

I use these by bending the pin around 90˚ and using them to scribe materials against various surfaces. They're the best thing I've found for this application.
